I use to tan before I got pregnant, not orange lol, just a light nice bronze color, natural glow type-tan. I also use to whiten my teeth every so often and dye my hair a darker, richer brown. Now that I am pregnant and almost ready to give birth, I feel very ugly. My skin looks HORRIBLE with make-up on it, I feel that it only looks good when I am lightly tanned. Being very pale looks BAD on me, and even expensive make-up that was made for my specific skin looks bad. Not cakey, just too light. How many of you use to tan before pregnant, and take care of yourself well, and at what point did you start again?:coffee:

Oh I look like hell. It doesn't help that my doctor said no bronzer.

I also have spots on my skin here and there, but I have 2 on my face, where it looks like I've been pinched and they're just small and red. It's weird, but they started when I was pregnant and I am PRAYING they will go away. I didn't ask the doctor about it, but I wondered if it was from a lack of sun.

The doctor gave me the okay to color my hair, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Besides, even if I wasn't worried... the smell would make me ill. It's almost July!

what did you use to whiten your teeth if you dont mind me asking??
x

I never tan only a little in the summer. I have found now that it gives me pigment patches so I stay well away. Fake tan I'm not sure is safe, I'd wait til bubba is out. Also wouldnt put nasy chemicals on my boobs etc where the baby will have lots of contact.

Might buy whitening strips for teeth afterwards and dye my hair again.

I was the same and had all but given it up until last week when I started ML. I got my hair done and nails and tan. And feel so much better now! I imagine I wont have time for the first month or so after LO is here but tbh, popping out for 2 hours for nails & tan will be nice once LO is here and it will give DH some daddy time. I think w eneed to prioritise these things as it makes us feel so much better!!

I just don't look good with pale skin, so I have been using sunless tanner---the Jergens natural glow, the foam kind, is awesome and so easy. My docs all said it's fine. They tell you to avoid anything like that in 1st tri just in case, since baby's developing from scratch then, but she said using it every other day is A-okay.

I use whitestrips on my teeth every couple weeks too to bring out that white, but now that I'm not drinking coffee and tea they don't really need it.

Now that it's warm out here, I lay out every day. I don't get overheated that way! And I use a gorgeous self tanner from Victoria's secret, it works really well. Makes my makeup look much better :)

I totally agree! Makes you feel so much better! :happydance:

I just get various teeth whitening products, I have never used crest whitestrips yet, I have only used the kind where you put in the gel in the mouthpiece. Also, I can't stand to use bronzer and know the tan isn't real, so I am stuck really really pale until baby girl comes out!

I still colored my hair and lay out when I can (just wear a hat)

Btw, 10 minutes of sun a day (or 5-30 minutes a week, depending where you live) is highly recommended, for Vit D, so it's good for us and baby! I know this won't exactly get you a good tan, but just a reminder that some sun is good for us:)

No tanning? Since when? I still use fake tan as otherwise my skin is actually transparent. I still dye my hair too  What does bronzer do to harm the baby cos I'm worried now?

i havent had time for nice nails hair and tan all at same time for 5 years i gave up when my now 5 year old son was born all i did was dye my hair but since i have been pregnant and can get away with looking like poop i have grown my blk hair dye out lol
before my son i wouldnt dare g ut without makeup etc but when he was born i never felt i needed it ax people got used ot seeing me without it through pregnancy :) i saved heeps of cash too

If you look it up online, there are mixed opinions on using bronzers, etc., which is why I asked my docs. So, basically, it's a personal decision in the end, but I decided to use them.

I'll be waiting til sproglet is here to do much about my appearance. I've dyed my hair however.
I'm pale enough to make vampires look tan, and my skin is so sensitive at the moment that more than 15 mins of sun makes me all itchy.
My skin tone has gone to all hell too since being pregnant, I look like a hormonal teenager!

I don't use fake tans, I reeeeally don't like the smell of them.

TRUE!!! Gwyneth Paltrow had deficency and had to spend more time in the sun.

I never used to tan at all, until i started working as a taxi driver 4 years ago....now my right arm tans and thats it lol. It looks so stupid, but it was always in the sun with driving etc.

Other than that, i generally have the complexion of a corpse - always pale.....mind you it was so much worse when i had the morning sickness, thank goodness thats well over with! xx

i use bronzer every day!
ive avoided using fake tan so far but i feel fugly!! im hoping theres going to be a few good days of sunshine whilst im on mat leave before BB arrives

Im still using fake tan, i feel horrible without it, im planning on getting a spray tan in the next few weeks, as long as its safe I dont see any problem with making yourself feel better about your self xxx
