Hi everyone,

I posted yesterday about my 8 month LO having loose pale yellow stools for the last 4 days. Well this morning her nappy was bone dry (after 9 hours sleep) and now she's having diarrhoea every 20 mins or so. Would a virus last 5 days? I'm so worried and now waiting for the NHS Direct to call back, but I'm tempted to take her to A&E...

What do you think?

I would take her back to a&e Hun, Hope she gets better soon :hugs:

You need to give LO a lot of fluids, see what Nhs direct say about hospital, but defo keep giving fluids you don't want LO to get dehydrated, does LO seem sleepy?

Didn't want to R&R - but if this was me - and I was really worried then would take to A&E. You know your LO better than everyone - if you are that worried go to A&E please! Also with regards to NHS direct - they are good - but I recall having an hour long conversation with them about my bubba having a cold - I know its all procedure for them etc. but they go through so many questions till they get to the bottom of it. If the hospital is not that far away go sooner rather than later - let us know how you get along - and big hugs to your LO xxx

Tbh hunny I'd take her to A&E, don't want to alarm you but I wouldn't be comfortable waiting for a call back when her nappy is completely dry from overnight and she's got diarrhoea. Although when Louis was really poorly NHS Direct to give them their due did ring back within 20 mins and sent me straight to Out of Hours GP service who then transferred us to hospital.
Go with your instinct and I hope she's ok sweetie, thinking of you and your LO :hugs::hugs: xx Let us know how she is if you can xxx

Totally agree with KatieB, babies dehydrate really quickly, get to casualty xx

Id try give her some fluids and get her to A&E as shes getting dehydrated from the diorrhoea xxx

Hi all.

Thanks for your advice. NHS called back and suggested rehydration powder for babies, which can be obtained from a doctor. She's taken lots of milk this morning and is having a sleep. The diarrohea has stopped for the last hour so I'm going to check her nappy when she wakes. Hopefully she'll have urinated. If not, I'll take her to a&e.

That's great that she's taken lots of milk, am sure she'll be weeing more now :hugs: Hope she's much better very soon xx

Hey hun, glad shes taken some milk, caleb has the same at the moment, took him to the gp in Friday and she said if he still has dioreah tues them bring him back as it may be a bacterial thing and need antibiotics. She said that more rare though. Hes still got bad nappies but drinking the odd bit of milk. The hv said to me to pinch his skin (not hard lol) and if it doesn't go back right away he's dehydrated or if he lethargic. If your Lo doesn't have a wet nappy or shows these signs I'd go to a and e, if not see your gp Monday and they can do a stool sample. Hope your los ok :) Xx

Spoke too soon. No wet nappies and lots of diarrohea. :( At a&e now. X

Aw bless, they'll make sure she's ok :) Xx

I do hope she is okay; you are in the right place. It does sound like a virus of some sort. I know there are a lot of viruses about this time of year. I hope she gets better soon. Please keep us posted when you can.

Thinking of your and your LO x

Hope all is ok and ur getting the help u and lo need
xx
