We just started sma follow on milk this week and has anyone else noticed its alot more clumpier then the previouse powder?
It just doesnt seem as light and fluffy as the last lost
Also it froths up alot more too making the whole thing bubbly (he doesnt seem to burp anymore though)

Is this normal or do I seem to have a bad damp batch?

yes i noticed when i give Harriet hungry baby food it bubbles up a lot more... She does not seem to notice its supposed to be thicker milk and it does not satisfy her more so we dont bother with it most of the time.

We moved onto SMA follow on around 6 months - choose SMA as it was on offer at the time in Tesco!

It certainly is not as light and fluffy as the Aptamil first that we used til Anna was 6 months.

I have noticed that I dont need to burp Anna anymore -dont know if its the milk or just because she is older and on solids too?

We are very happy with SMA follow-on and will stick with it!:flower:

Oh im happy enouth with it was just making sure I didnt have a tin that had got damp (as thats how it looks to me)
I miss loosening the powder up by shaking it :) (small things small minds and all) :)

I have noticed that the hungry milk is different to SMA gold, it doesnt seem to stick to the scoop

smokey it might be worth rolling the bottle in your hands rather than shaking the powder in the milk, will help with any froth :)

I have started using a spoon to mix, this seems to help. Does not froth up as much!

Ill give that a go thanks, it just doesnt seem to mix as well.
Well ill try it if I can do it without burning myself :)

When should you start using follow on milk? I'm still on stage one and Madelyn is nearly 9 months :dohh:

I only realy changed because he clearly was still hungry and the normal stuff wasnt cutting it anymore.
The follow on gives extra amounts of the vitamins and minerals so I got that and give him an extra ounce and he seems happy now, he even forgot to tell me he was overdue his normal four hourly feed today :)

Jenson has special reflux milk and its thicker and it says on the tin to roll in in between the hands

Madelyn only takes a bottle now in the morning when she wakes and at night when she goes to bed and she has her 3 meals a day with snacks. I wonder if its worth me switching as she is still not sleeping though and still gets up for a feed during the night?

Just after i had my baby my midwife said not to bother switching at 6months because first stage milk is good till 12months and the follow on milk is just so they can advertise. Personally im not gunna bother switching, its not something that has to be done. Xxx

No I dont think its somthing that has to be done at all its just that I noticed the amount of nutrition differance and thought id give it a try

Omar is on anti reflux mixed with follow on. Anti reflux is much thicker than the follow on. I use a long baby spoon to stir it. xx

If ur Lo is ok with her formula there is no need to switch. But if she's not sleeping well (due to hunger) or she's off her bottles, changing worth a try. Omar was off his formulas & we switched for the extra nutrients, & he liked it more. We still mix it with his old formula (anti reflux).
