How much would you take on a 2 week family holiday to Turkey with a 15 month old and 2 year old?

We are not planning on heavily drinking or anything but might have 1 or 2 each with our evening meal.
we would also like to do some activities like water park etc and im sure the kids will need lots of drinks and snacks during the day.

id estimated £1600 for all holiday spends and holiday clothes for everyone (just cheap clothes)
also need armbands suncream etc

IS it self catering? I'd budget about 100 per day for food/drinks/snacks so 1400 then probably about 6/700 for all clothes, armbands etc if you are buying cheap clothes. Then I'd probably research your water parks etc to budget accordingly. It's usually cheaper I've found to purchase excursion/ park tickets before you go in my experience

Holidays arent cheap are they! Id estimated £100 per day for 12 days as I thought tgere would be a few days we will just make our own in the room.
As for holiday clothes we just need sunhats and a few bits n bobs as iv already bought them some (hope I got the right size) I should have been more clear. £2000 will probably be more realistic? Dont want to be thinking about money when were away

I normally budget £100.00 per day when we are on holiday, as like you I dont want to be worrying about money. That's for two adults and a four year old.

Turkey is really cheap when you're there but for me I would always rather take too much than not have enough. I think £1600 would be about right, you don't need that many clothes lol lets face it, we all just wear the same couple of outfits over and over :haha: xx

If it was all inc then like £50 a day. But when we went away with just 1 kid we hardly left the complex other then walks round the town/on the beach and mostly just ate at the hotel as food was pretty good.

I don't honestly know. OH, LO & I got by for a week in Poland (self catered) on £300 but Poland is seriously cheap. I'd expect Turkey to be similar but no experience.

ETA: Holiday clothes for Turkey shouldn't be too expensive. 2 swimming costumes for the kids and 3 outfits should do fine! They won't wear much when it's hot.

Well we were there in 2012 amd I remember we got a 3 course meal and 2 drinks for £10, but I only hadto think of myself in them days and we had seperate spends. I think a meal for 2 of us with maybe 3 drinks each was only about £30ish as there buy one get one free drinks and kids eat free in lots of places.
I bought alot in the next sale whem evie was a newborn and laughed at buying clothes so far away and iv actually got alot for her. Lucas will need alot I think but as they will probably get wrecked with suncream primark and matalan will do fine.
I am going in september and only have 8 pays until then!

we budget £100 a day when we go on holiday for all drinks, meals and added extras :) have a lovely time! xx

Wow I'm amazed at the cost of a self catering holiday. I thought it was supposed to be the cheap option. We always go in a hotel and lady year we had 2 weeks in Rhodes in the middle of the summer holidays, half board and spent around £2000 which included a few trips and car hire etc.

From talking to other people it seems that £100 per day is the general amount people take. Breakfast and lunch for us would just be fruit and a drink. Dinner I would have the children share and we don't really drink much. If we want to drink we tend to go to the supermarket and buy the alcohol as it's so much cheaper so we get more for our money.
I would tend not to take all cash though. We usually pay for things like entry to water parks, car hire and trips on our credit card. I really wouldn't be happy with having in excess of £1000 with me.

I use cash passports for the majority of my money, and have some cash.

Last time I remember if you were buying fakes like converse etc you could pay in pounds. I think my children will share a meal though as they will probably want some of ours too. I know there will be some days that we will have lunch in the room and fruit etc so I guess the main cost is evening meals and any day trips which will probably only be about 2.

Where abouts in Turkey are you going? I worked in a travel agent for years so should be able to help, but prices can vary quite a bit between areas, for instance Marmaris is quite reasonable but the likes of Lara Beach etc is a bit more pricey. I agree about booking tickets for things in advance - I tend to pay them this end and then you never lose out with changes in exchange rates.

I second what others said about cash - some places offer free insurance against loss or theft if you buy over a certain amount (Thomas Cook definitely did a Few years back - you got free insurance on cash only if you spent over £500) or get one of the currency cards - it can be pretty pricey to use your bank card abroad because the exchange rate changes every day and you are sometimes paying a transaction fee too.

I'd say £100/day would be reasonable - but again it depends on the sorts of places you like to eat!

Are you thinking of self catering? Not sure about budgets as we always go half board/ all inclusive and I find it much better value for money. Just a bit more of a gamble as you can't always know food will be good. Eg were going to Tenerife in May in a one bedroom villa with jacuzzi, half board and it's costing £1000 for us all. I know it's not all about money though
