Spent hours last night in the labour ward

Warning this is long!

So as soon as I left work yesterday at half 5 i all of a sudden got a really sharp pain low down in my stomach.
I ignored it for a while, but an hour later it was still there. It was just a constant pain that wouldnt go away.
I thought oh god something isnt right so I phone my midwife unit (i dont have my own midwifes number for some reason) and they told me to come in.
It wasnt safe for me to drive as the pains were really quite bad. Most of my family were on holiday so OH's mum took me in.
We got there at about 7.15 and the pain was still the same, constant and hadnt died down at all.
So we was sat in one of the labour rooms, it was horrible in there. I dont really like hospitals but it brought me to reality that i will actually be giving birth in one of these rooms soon!!!
We was waiting for about an hour before one of the mw's came in. Pain still the same. So she got her doppler out to listen to heartbeat and she couldnt find it!! Panic set in as last time my mw found the hearbear straight away! So ten mins later shes still looking and then finally she found it, Phew. That was so scary.
Anyway she takes my blood pressure and everythigns fine. So a doctor comes in and inspects my belly, pressing down on it and Oh boy that really hurt!!!
By now it was about 10 and the pain was still constant. He said they didnt want to do an internal but to just go home and take some tablets i was like somethings obviously isnt right here!!
But they have sent my wee off to lab to be tested for water infection and need to ring my docs tomorrow for results.
So off i got home at half ten, still in pain. OH stays at mine with me bless him as my parents are on holiday.
So i manage to fall asleep, and then a couple of hours later i wake up in pain again it really was horrible. OH was rubbing my back but it still wouldnt go away.
Im sooo sooo tired but the pain is just a constant nagging pain and sleeping wasnt possible. But then soon after i must of exhausted myself out and i manage to fall asleep.
So i wake up this morning and then pains gone however its still quite sensative but i feel so much better!! Phew.
Still have a feeling something is wrong but i will have to wait and see.

Hey Hun- glad you are feeling better! What a nightmare- I had some pain a couple of weeks ago and my midwife put it down to my stomach/ bowels but I wasn't convinced! It's never come back though

its scary when moments of panic happen like that isnt it! its amazing the different types of pains you can experience whilst being pregnant.

i'm sure if the labour ward thought it was anything to worry about ie you were going into early labour, they wouldnt have sent you home hun. try resting for a couple of days maybe you just need some rest x

Its annoying isnt it. Im thinking it might be some infection. However the painkillers didnt help me one bit.
On the bright side though we did hear two babies being born while we was in there : ) One of the women though was screaming her head off, iv never heard anything like it in my life. She was worse then that sam girl off of one born every mintue!!

oh dear, maybe it is an infection? becuase when i have UTI's i get aweful pain down below!

Hope they sort it all out for you hun and everything is ok , pregnancy is such a worrying time. All i do is worry

I had the same thing on monday night. Started off like mild period pains, then got worse. By the time i went to bed the pain was constant. I managed to get some sleep but was aware of the pain all night. Went to hospital first thing monday morning and had to wait 3 hours before a doctor could check me! MW checked heartbeats of the babies which she found straight away thank god, and had to give a urine sample, which had traces of blood in it aparently, but because im carrying twins and there's increased risk of early labour, they had to have a doctor carry out an internal check (OUCH!). 3 hours later, doc checked me, said all was ok and sent me packing! Didnt quite get it as you tell me i had traces of blood in my water, but dont give me anything for it??!! So went to GP yesterday, he did another test and said i have a urine infection and put me on antibiotics.

Im sure yours is something similar. Have you called up to check the results of the urine sample you gave? Hope you feel better soon. x

No not yet, he said the results should be there by tomorrow afternoon so will call then.

wow that sounds really scary, sorry u had such a bad time! its gotta be a good sign if it has stopped hurting though, im sure its just some sort of infection....there are so many weird and worrying new things almost daily in pregnancy, i wasnt expecting that,lol (naive?!) Hope ur feeling better soon

i had a similar thing happen last week i was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden i started gettin crazy back pain every time i stood upit was sore and it was worse when i tried to sit back down! phoned MW and was told to go straight to hosp, pain started to travel round my right side into my stomach, my OH said i went grey and thought i was going to pass out!
MW tried to find heart beat and the same as you she couldnt find it, felt like ages then she finally got it i did urine test and had traces of protien in my urine, had to sit about the hosp on a sat night for about 5 hours they thought i had a urine and kidney infection i was giving antibiotics and sent home, was really strange because saturday just passed the i got the exact same pain but it lasted about 45mins and then went and not had it again!!

Hope everything is all right for you. I get some pretty good pain and my doctor has chalked is up to gastric (trapped gas) problems that go along with being pregnant.
