Hi everyone-

So my husband and i have been TTC for 17 months now with no luck. I am 21, as is he. We went in for testing at the one year mark, and as far as they can tell everything is "normal" with me. however, they said he has a low sperm count and low sperm motility. What can we do? I am getting very discouraged and am wondering if this is just a lost cause now....

ps a little background- i only have 25 day cycles and a 9/10 day lp, but the doc says its not an issue. he smokes but is "trying" to quit. neither one of us use or have ever used any recreational drugs. I am overweight, which i hear can cause problems.

ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED!

I have read that ginseng helps with low sperm counts. Quitting smoking is always a good thing. I hope he is able to.

Lots of luck and :dust:

When my partner and i were ttc we also got told he had low sperm count , morphology and one of the other ones (sorry cant remember which) anyway he started taking Menevit, orange juice and went to an acupuncturist who made up herbs specially for his "swimmers" and viola 6 weeks later bfp. Also we got another SA to see and all of his count, morphology etc had gone up ALOT. Though he doesnt smoke but honestly all that other stuff must have done something so dont lose hope.

Goodluck x

Hi,

Just thought i would share this.

DH's first s/a:

60 million count
40% motility
Slow swimmers
Some agglutination (clumping together)

DH's second s/a: After 6 months on vits/mins:

120 million count
80% motility
Forward progression good & 40% rapid
No agglutination

He takes 1 x of the following every day.

(All brought from Holland & Barrett)
(Roughly £100 for at least 90 days supply some were sold in greater quantity)
(It takes 90/100 days for sperm to develop. So improvements aren't immediate)

268mg of 400IU-Vitamin E with 50 micrograms selenium (Improves sperm's ability to bind to and penetrate an egg. Selenium is needed to form normal shaped sperm, to maintain a normal sperm count, proper functioning of maturation and motility)

50 micrograms-Selenium (See above-recommended daily dose for men 75mcg)

1000mg-Vitamin C with bioflavonoids (Low levels linked to genetically damaged sperm-can cause birth defects. Improves sperm motility and count. Prevents sperm clumping together.

15mg-High strength amino acid chelated zinc with 0.75mg copper (Needed for motility and good sperm count, Zinc reduces excessive oestrogen levels in men which is linked to low sperm count)

75mg-Super Co-enzyme Q10 (Not sure of exact benefits but heard its a good all rounder)

500 micrograms-Vitamin B12 (Low levels are associated with abnormal sperm production, reduced counts and reduced motility)

500mg-L-Arginine (Studies show it can double sperm count)

400 micrograms-Folic acid (Improves sperm count and motility and reduces morphological abnormalities)

200 micrograms-Chromium picolinate (Gynae told me to get it for DH's problems, which were slow swimmers, clumping together, 40% motility)

500mg-L-Carnitine (Essential for normal functioning of sperm)

500mg-Calcium magnesium (250mg magnesium/500mg calcium)-(Calcium aids the absorption of vitamin B12. Gynae told us to get magnesium)

Hope it helps.

We found out, after several horrible tests (rude lab workers) that my husband had none. Had surgery, but was unsucessful, so went route of using known donor and doing AI. Worked! There is hope though - we too were young and it's difficult learning that you may have issues when you've tried for so long to prevent it from happening!

A tip for hubby would be to wear boxers or nothing - helps to keep testicles away from body, thus keeping temp low for good sperm!

Good luck!!!

Hey Hun I would try Fertaid for men and fertaid for women....it has great reviews and great success rates! It will improve sperm count etc and help with you LP defect iv just bought some for me and my parter! He also has a low sperm count xx
