Hi all,
I have spotting for 8-9 days that only happens post ovulation, and (TMI warning!) normally only starts after trying to force myself to go to the bathroom (typically starts anywhere from 1 to 5 days after ovulation). I take my BBT and have been going for acupuncture for about 6 months. My acupuncturist says that she'd be concerned about the spotting if my temps dipped at the same time the spotting starts, which they don't. I've had spotting for probably the last 12 years or so, and no doctor has ever been able to figure out why (hormone levels are "normal"). Does anyone else have this issue?

i do not but didnt want to read and run hope you get some answers soon

I had spotting from o my last cycle and had a chemical pregnancy. I don't think the spotting was linked to the chemical. So I'm presuming the spotting won't stop me conceiving.

Have you had a scan?

has your dr had you try progesterone cream? sometimes that can help with spotting. also, have you tried vitex, also called fertilaid. vitamin b6 is also known to help with spotting. be careful how much you take though. it's not recommended to take more than 200mg a day and start with a lower dose first (50mg).

I've tried everything - progesterone, B6, vitex, fertilaid, Chinese herbs...nothing has helped. It's been going on for so long and every test comes back "normal." No lesions, tubes aren't blocked, nothing on the ultrasounds. It's just strange that it only happens after ovulation and only starts after trying to force myself on the toilet...makes me not want to go! lol!

I've been getting acupuncture weekly for the past 6 months or so, and the acupunturist told me the spotting is not preventing me from getting pregnant...that the two are completely unrelated (unless my temps were dropping when the spotting started, which they aren't). Something clicked in my brain (finally!) when she said that and now I feel really positive about my chances of getting pregnant. It will happen! The power of positive thinking :spermy:

Yay I'm positive for you too. I don't think they are related either and I don't think it'll stop you getting pregnant.

It's great that all your tests are normal. You'll get that BFP soon!

Good luck1

have you tried any fiber supplements so you don't have to strain so hard? i have this problem and metamucil works wonders! start with the max dose, 3 per day. it should help you there. if the straining is causing it, this should help. it really could just be an unexplained thing and have no effect on your fertility.

Hello, I have this problem too (there are a bunch of us on the TTC discussions board). I'm the same as you- no reason for the spotting, great progesterone levels etc. I have tried B6, Vitex, acupuncture and Chinese herbs but nothing has really made a difference! X

I'm glad I'm not alone! I can never seem to find anyone discussing this type of spotting (all of my searches bring up ovulation spotting, implantation spotting, etc). It's so frustrating! I just need to keep reminding myself that it has nothing to do with my fertility.

You sound just like me. I always spot mid-cycle and always spot couple of days before period.
I also have been VERY active and working out super hard... I slowed that down this month and the spotting went from 4 days to 2.5 mid-cycle and I am 4 days before period and no spotting yet, where I usually spot by now.

I am also on Fertilaid and I am a vegan/raw vegan, so I am super healthy, and I know enough about nutrition to know that my diet has nothing to do with it but I have a feeling this has to do with stress, mentally and physically.

Not sure how your lifestyle is, but I suggest to try to relax, get massages, do yoga... maybe our bodies are trying to tell us something. :)
