Hey! I am currently 20 years old. I found out about 2 years ago (right after I got married) that I have pcos. I went over 6 months with no period. I also found out I have hypothyroidism, which means my thyroid is underactive. I take thyroid med, also was prescribed a generic for provera. I have been taking it every other months for the past 6 months or so. We have been trying to conceive for a year and a half. My doctor recently prescribed me clomid, days 5-9. I'm on CD1 now. I started this morning and have one pill left of my provera.
Any of you have similar stories?? I would love to hear a success story! Thanks so much! ♡

Hi Bzy! I don't have a success story yet, but this is my situation: DH and I both 25, came off the pill about a year ago, I had no periods at all so my GP referred us to a fertility specialist. He did a transvaginal ultrasound and blood tests and diagnosed PCOS (absent periods being my only real symptom). DH had a semen analysis which was fine and I had an HSG which was also fine. So I was then prescribed Norethisterone to kick start AF, and I took Clomid 50mg CD2-6. Today is CD23 and I had blood tests on CD21 to see if I ovulated (although I don't think I did) - I will get the results tomorrow and then see where we are!

How are you feeling about everything? ♡

It does help to know I'm not the only one out there! :)
And I'm feeling pretty positive, bc I know I've got my age on my side. But it's just so scary not knowing if I'll ever have my own children..
But I do have hopes! Since my provera always Kickstart my period I'm really hoping that the clomid makes me ovulate! Only 4 more days until I start my first round of clomid!! So nervous and sooo excited

And can't wait to hear from your tests!! Hopefully you ovulated!! Would be awesome if this could be both of our months!! ♡♡

Oh you are most definitely not the only one, there are lots of us on these forums and everyone is so supportive.

Yes, age is undoubtedly on your side, but I agree, it can be scary thinking about what might be to come. From what I've read on here though, Clomid can work wonders for a lot of ladies with PCOS so we're definitely on the right tracks!

Were you on birth control at any point? If not, I reckon that would be a good thing too. Even with the Norethisterone giving me a period, it's never much more than spotting for a couple of days which could indicate a thin lining and could be because I was on the pill for so long.

It is exciting knowing you're about to start the Clomid. Hopefully you won't have any side effects but mine weren't too bad anyway. Just the occasional night sweat - pretty grim but could have been worse!

I don't think I have ovulated but I guess I'll discover tomorrow!

:)

I was on birth control -loestrin fe- for about 6 months, but it was making me have periods a month. One every other week, so I quit taking it and then for the next 6 months, we used other preventive methods, until I found out I had pcos. Ever since, we haven't prevented nothing. So it's been about a year and a half.
, I'm kinda scared of the side effects. I also recently had a cyst on my right ovary about the size of a golf ball. It is supposedly gone now, thank the Lord, and so he wanted me to start clomid. He did warn me that clomid can cause large cysts??

I did clomid after 8 years of not getting pregnant. I got pregnant on our first cycle and had our ds.

Since he was born I've tried clomid a few more time with no success. But I have two more cycles left I'm thinking of doing in May and June.

Okay, so at least the effects of the pill are well out of your system now.

Yeah, unfortunately Clomid can cause various side effect, some of which can have make it difficult to get pregnant ironically. Fingers crossed you will be absolutely fine though. A lot of people tend to take the Clomid in the evening which helps minimise the side effects so you could always try that?

Thanks for both of yalls replies☺
& ok, I will take it at night, hopefully that will help reduce side effects. It's all just so nerve wracking

Gosh Krissie, I don't know how you got through 8 years of this. Got my test results today, didn't O with the Clomid. Pretty frustrated. Waiting for a call back from the consultant on Monday to see if I need to up the dosage.

Sorry to hear you didn't o. What dose were you on this round?

I kept myself crazy busy earning degree after degree. And I have a very supportive dh. I've actually found ttc 2 much harder. It's been 2.5 years with two losses. It's been so draining. Before ds I just couldn't get pregnant so that somehow seemed easier to deal with. I thought since clomid worked so well with ds this time it would be just as easy.

Oh wow, I can see why you would try and keep that busy. It's all consuming sometimes isn't it, just all I think about at times- and if I'm quiet at work which I have been over Easter, I end up just researching and then stressing myself out. I think a supportive DH must make a world of difference. Mine is an absolute babe, but from what I've read on some threads, some just either don't try, ir can't understand. Poor DH has learnt so much more about female reproductive biology than he probably ever wanted to! I remember when I first mentioned the whole CM thing to him I could see his brain wanted him to say something silly but he managed to swallow it and be sensible!

Haha, yea sometimes my dh gets more than he bargained for with this fertility stuff.

I should also mention we have male factor as well so it hasn't been all me. I think that's helped him understand more.

Steph, I saw your post in the Clomid buddies thread, but I can't post there... anyway I was going to tell you about my experience with Clomid. So I did the first cycle at 50mg and I didn't ovulate. I was so sad, I'd resigned to the fact that it wasn't going to work for me and I'd have to go back on Provera. My doctor upped me to 100mg and I ovulated the next cycle! I didn't get pregnant but my cycle was 29 days long. The next cycle I took 100mg again and I got my BFP on the day before Christmas Eve! You can see I'm now 21 weeks with a wee boy! I'm not sure if you know Nita, anyway she was in the Clomid buddies thread and she didn't respond to 50 or 100mg but conceived on 150mg. Try to keep your hopes up.

TTC, I wish you all the best. As you can see Clomid worked for me! My first cycle wasn't enough to make me ovulate (50mg) but the second and third I did and conceived on my third cycle. You might find you get hot flushes and night sweats in the week or so after finishing the last tablet. When you get close to ovulating you might find that you get strong ovulation pains. If you don't conceive but do ovulate you might experience a heavy, sore period. I also recommend drinking lots of water around ovulation and taking mucinex tablets from about CD 9-18. It'll help produce more CM which often dries up on Clomid. Good luck!

Hi Sarah, thank you so much for your positive message! Just read it out to DH too. Did you go for 100mg after just one round of 50mg? I haven't heard of mucinex tablets but will take a look for next time. I did get some cough syrup containing guainifensin as I had heard that could help prevent CM from drying up too. Ahh that's so exciting about your little boy, what a wonderful Christmas present for you :) not many more months until you get to meet him <3

No worries. For us ladies that don't ovulate due to PCOS, Clomid and Femara usually do a great job. Unfortunately if there are other issues going on (like blocked tubes or male factors) it will be more difficult. My husband also has low motility and it only took us 2 ovulatory cycles.

I jumped from 50mg to 100mg. I'm pretty sure I ended up ovulating 2 eggs on my second cycle. I felt really bad ovulation pain and my CD 21 blood test was pretty high. But I didn't get pregnant. The next cycle, I didn't get a positive OPK, hardly any CM and my CD 21 blood test was in the low 30s (I ovulated but it wasn't fantastic) but I conceived!

Mucinex has guaifenesin too. It doesn't matter if you take mucinex or take a cough syrup with guaifenesin. You should be set with that cough mixture. I ended up taking it at about 5pm each evening and then it had kicked it by the time we went to bed. I also read that vitamin C can help with Clomid resistance. I took it my second cycle but not the third.

Thank you. We are so excited and feel so lucky to be pregnant. I can tell already he's going to be a busy boy with all the kicking haha. I know it's hard to remain hopeful but for the majority of people PCOS is the easiest cause of infertility to manage. Once you get ovulating there's a really good chance it'll happen quickly for you :)
