Starting first IUI treatment Friday! buddies and advice welcome!

Hi so I'm starting gonalF injections on Friday evening for my first ever IUI, with trigger shot sometime around 3/19. DH has diagnosed Male Factoe Infertility and this will be cycle 10 of trying this round (DS took 14 cycles of trying to conceive).

I'm so nervous, excited, hopeful, and pessimistic at the same time (I know, I know, think positive).

Looking for advice from ladies who have been through this already. Any helpful tips? What worked/didn't work for you?

Also looking for IUI buddies who have similar timing, so we can commiserate, over analyze and go through this cycle together!

good luck! I'm on my second iui now! So if you have any questions, I can try to answer! Is your husband taking anything for his issues?

The injections and trigger shot plus iui is your highest chance of success with iui! So that is a good plan. I have not gone that route yet because clomid gets me a lot of eggs and injections get you even more so higher chance of multiples. But also higher success rate. So.. that one is a hard decision to make. Not sure if I will go with it for my 3 iui or not, depends because it will be my last one.

@waitingongod1 yeah 3 IUI is our limit too, since the success rate drops so drastically after that. Thanks for offering to answer questions--I'm sure I'll have lots of them soon!
DH is going for varicocele surgery next week to remove a large vein that is supposedly causing our fertility problems. We shouldn't see any results (ie pregnancy) for at least 9 months post surgery, so it would be really nice if this IUI would work!

I am going through the exact same thing as you... I would love to have a buddy! My husband was on testosterone which diminished his sperm down to nothing. He has been off testost. for 6 months. We have seen a fertility specialist and will start Femera,HSG,Trigger, etc. I believe my trigger will be sometime around 3/22. I am also nervous/excited because we are only giving this a few months. So its all or nothing!!!

Oh an IUI buddy! I'm sorry you're going through this too. It really stinks. Hopefully this will be our month...go big or go home!

Exactly. This month will really say alot for us. AF should be here next Friday, then all the fun begins. They know by DH sperm is low, but dont know how low yet. He is doing a SA right when AF comes so we will have a better idea of what here working with. But... fingers crossed They have my DH on clomid and HCG to increase his natural testost. and get is Sperm up. Have they done anything to your hubby?

No...he's the most stubborn person I know, so because the Dr. told him that there's no conclusive evidence that says changing diet, taking vitamins and exercising will help, he refuses to do any of them. But he is having surgery on his testicles to hopefully fix it in a couple of weeks...that's pretty above and beyond, so I can't fault him for not taking vitamins!

Thanks, have you taken your first dose yet? The Gonal F pen didn't hurt more than a little pinch, but I have had a headache all day. I'm SO hoping that I don't get headaches everyday from this!

Stretch- is it like a shot that tried into you. Our a normal shot you insert? I've always wondered. Was it hard?

AF isnt due until a little later this week. Then i will begin

Waiting- it looks like a pen. There's a dial and button on the back that you twist each night to specify the dosage. The other end is a small needle (you twist a new needle on each night) and after you stick it in your tummy fat, you push the button and take the needle out and you're done! Pretty simple and not too much pain!

Mind if I join in as well? I'm a little behind you this cycle. I'm doing a femara/ gonal F combination cycle with trigger and IUI. I will start injections on 3/13 (I did femara for CD 3-7) and then probably have the IUI around the 20th or so depending on the response. Feeling a little nervous with adding the IUI but I'm hopeful for a good outcome.
How far along are you ladies in your cycles?

I am CD2, woohoo, long road ahead!! I get Bloodwork tomorrow, then HSG and trigger next week. Cant wait to hear how yours goes!!!
