Starting Provera before AF is due?

My AF is due at the very end of November. I'm really hoping to do IUI with this cycle, and if my period is late I'm afraid my ovulation will hit too close to Christmas to do the procedure. I just want to make sure my period starts when I need it to. Would taking provera before AF is due work?

I don't know hun....Provera is just pure progesterone. Your body will have it after ovulation anyway. But if you get regular cycles I think forcing a bleed can mess things up.

Personally I wouldn't take it if you get regular periods yourself. It can mess up your lining and your hormones and if you are having an iUI cycle next, Id want to be in the best condition.

I was also desperate for an IUI cycle but doesn't look like I can have it in the end. My Dr think my ovaries, although growing and popping follicles, aren't actually releasing eggs outside of the ovaries.
But even if I could go ahead with the IUI I was going to wait till after Chritmas. Purely for the reason of everything and everyone being closed for the holidays and if I needed some urgent help A&E would be only port of call and I don't want that.
Plus all the partying in December! And then a fresh start in the New Year!!

I don't know if my cycle will be regular, is the problem. Last month it was agony waiting 4 extra days. I had normal 34 day cycles when I was taking clomid, but after that everything started going downhill. My thought is I'll be in my LP anyway, so I'll be producing progesterone if I ovulated, which is unlikely. I don't know! I won't make any decisions until I see my doctor monday.
