if you sterilise bottles, take them out of the steriliser and put them back together, how long do they stay sterilised for??

Good question and I'd like to know the answer. I usually leave mine no longer than 6 hrs, but not sure if thats too long x

I had left over bottles last night that I sterilised to take out with me today - but I guess this is leaving it too long now?

I leave for about 12 hours in the fridge or about 8 on the side.

From what I understand and read, the bottles are fine to use for 24hrs as long as they've been 'put together' and the lid on properly as this makes them airtight. Steam sterilisers only keep them sterile for 'x' amount of time (mine is 6hrs) as they have holes in the lids and therefore air can get to the parts.

I have always assumed they would be sterile at least 24 hours, if they are sealed, bacteria cannot get into them...

I used to sterilize and put together about 3/4 at a time, so thats about 12 hours or so, do that on a morning and then a batch before bed for through the night.
