We are going away for a few days next month in the UK and I really don't want to take the steriliser due to the amount of room we will have left in the car with all the other bits.

What has everyone else done when they've been away?

I bought a large plastic box with click shut lid (£4 in Matalan) and some water serializing tablets (Less than £2 in Mothercare). Also took a small travel bottle that I had put some washing up liquid in and a sponge.

I washed the bottles in the bathroom sink and them put them in the box of sterilizing water - they can be left in it for up to 24 hours and I made sure the box I got was big enough to put at least 4 bottles and teats in at the same time. The water can be reused in the same 24 hour period, takes 30 mins to do a bottle so I just changed the water each morning but kept the bottles in it so there was always one ready when we needed one.

I left this on the side in the bathroom and just put a note on it for housekeeping that read ' please leave - baby's equipment sterilizing'.

We used cold water sterilizing bags, same premise as above but more portable as basiclaly sterile plastic sacks with the tablets already in. Can be hung off doorknob. When using sterilising bags/tablets bottles jsut need rinsing with boiled water before filling. Got mine from boots- 7 for £6.99. Each one can be used for 24 hours

xx

I used milton tablets, then switched to boiling as Omar got allergic around his mouth. I regreted not bringing my sterilizer with me as it's small & easier to use.

We bought sterilising bags which you can put in the microwave as we weren't too keen on the idea of tablets. They were great and cheap. Got them in Sainsbury's I think.

i used milton solution. comes in a 200ml bottle so will have to put in your suitcase. can leave stuff in the solution for up to 24 hours before changing it for fresh solution. dilute half a capful with 2.5 litres of water. i asked the hotel for a bowl to kepp all of it in.

Hi
We plan to use this https://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/closer_to_nature_single_bottle_steriliser/
as the place we are going has a microwave.

If it's not too long you could be some sterilie bottles to use - I've seen them in Boots. If it's a longer trip you might as well take the steriliser IMO, anything else you do will take up pretty much the same room!

These are the ones we have

The best thing is probably a tupperware and sterilising tablets. I use a 5 litre cereal storage tupperware (like this one https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/319bFZKCUeL.jpg), and it sterilises about 4 bottles at once. The deeper ones are better, because they're easier to totally submerge the bottles in. I originally bought one like this one: https://www.5dollarsorless.com/shop/603186-478-large/3-pieces-food-storage-containers-stackable.jpg and it was impossible to submerge the bottles properly

Depends where you're staying I would say. If you're in a holiday cottage and have a hob you can just boil them in a pan of water or get microwave steriliser bags and if you're in an hotel then milton or sterilising tablets in a box is probably your best bet. We're off on holiday to a holiday cottage and I think I'll just take my microwave steriliser as it's easier and what I know!
