it took nearly an hour to get the spinal block in the right location due to me having many spinal surgeries the anatomy of my spine is abnormal. So many times they tried different locations and angles on my spine - most of the time striking bone with the needle....which hurt like hell.

But like a hard ass i sat there and took it.

That was 10 days ago and i still feel so bruised and tender on my spine. I can only assume that the bone is bruised from the repeated attempts for the block.

Once they got the block in the right location it was blissful and i lay there giggling as my feet went warm and tingly....and then totally numb :haha: strange sensation.

Anyone else felt this bruising after a spinal block? if so how long did it take to subside? xx

mine was a bit weird too, it took them half an hour to get me numb. they kept missing and my left leg went all weird, but eventually got all numb! hehe. it took me a few weeks to feel normal again...and the slouching didnt help either. i still have trouble with my posture which doesnt help the back pain but i think thats more to do with the way i stand as my tummy muscles still hurt a bit. have u tried lying on a hotwater bottle? thats my solution for everything.....

My spine actually turned where I had mine, I have to go to a chiropractor to fix it because I loose feeling in my left foot. They separate your spine as much as they can, stick a needle in it, and close it again, this leads to lots of problems. The bruising should subside like any other, but if the pain lingers this could be your problem.

I haven't tried lying on a hot water bottle, i'm usually pretty sensitive to anything pressing on my back due to the surgeries i've had and having metal implants on my spine.

Thankfully i'm now 13 days post section and it is settling down more. I'm guessing that they had just really bruised the bone from their repeated attempts at trying to get the right place with the spinal. xx

I had two failed epi's (the first being put in too far) and 3 attempts at a spinal, the third being the final one and it didn't even numb me in the right direction. I then had to have a blood patch, so another few stabs in my spine. I couldn't stand up straight for the first few days and even now (5 weeks later) it is still bruised and sore, if I stand for too long I start to feel a lot of pressure in my spine, I am hoping that eventually it will go back to normal, so I can empathise, I imagine that yours is bruised by the sounds of everything you went through too.

Aww hun you've been through the mill too. I hope you begin to feel better soon xx
