Hey ladies,

(I put 34 weeks but technically I am now 35 weeks.)

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and I was weighed and didnt gain 1 pound at all infact, I lost a pound the doctor questioned me if I thought my waters were leaking if I haven't been eating and everything like that.

I don't think my waters are leaking although I have no idea, sometimes I think they are because I have really watery discharge but then I can go hours without getting anything on my pantyliner so I dont think that could be waters.

Also I have been gaining SO much weight so fast and now nothing, so he is a bit concerned about that I am going for an ultrasound tommorow to see what is going on in there, he just advised me that if there was anything wrong with the placenta at my scan tommorow, I will be hospitalized and baby will be taken into NICU to finish growing as shes better off out then in if the placenta is failing.

I am so scared I hate going to the doctors feels like everytime I go I get some type of weird news. Now im scared my baby hasnt grown in 2 weeks! I could hardly sleep lastnight over it and I am just wondering if any one has experienced not gaining any weight in the last weeks???

Any help girls.. xx

i havent experienced this but i just wanted to say ill be sending prayers your way and hope everything goes good at the scan. you have done so well keeping that LO in there :) praying you can make it to full term :hugs:

I hope all goes well for your scan. Iv not gained any weight for about 2 weeks now I'm alittle worried but lo is moving alot and I read in a book that it's not uncommon for your weight gain to level off or even lose weight towards the end.

My friend lost weight at the end with her LO, he was fine, healthy 8lb5oz at birth :) I hope you get some good news tomorrow hun :)

I didn't gain more than about 5lbs through my whole pregnancy. Both times I have ended the pregnancies lighter than I started (well after the iv fluids are passed and such) Both babies have been just fine and of average size.

Good luck :hugs: I know it can be scary not gaining

At my last appointment (36 weeks) I lost a pound and the mw said since I had gained 3 lbs the week before, maybe it was just evening out. I personally think it has something to do with what you are wearing each time too because the week I gained 3 lbs I had a big sweatshirt on and the time I lost a pound I just had a tshirt. Hopefully its something silly like that and nothing serious! Good luck!

i also thought you level out in the end sometimes you gain less im sure your baby is healthy hun try not to get upset they should of had the ultrasound then tell you that cause everything can be fine try not to stress hun good luck with your appointment thinking of you :)

I've heard that it's pretty common to stop gaining and maybe even lose a bit when you are at the end of third trimester? Try not to worry, hope everything is great at your ultrasound.

Thanks ladies, I am trying not to worry, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but it feels like I am crawling there slower and slower fighting to make it there that's for sure!

Thank you for your positive thoughts and I just hope its my body leveling the weight out as ive gained 13 lbs over what I should have according to the charts. Doc just seemed really worried, which made me panic.

I will keep an update for tommorow

Hiya,

I was sent off for a scan last friday after being told i hadnt gained weight since 29 weeks and that my fundal height had also stopped growing at 29cm since i was 34 weeks at the time they were quite concerned. im 5ft 4 and weighed around 8 and a half stone before i got pregnant, so im quite small anyways but midwife was using all these scary terms like IUGR and placental failure and also warned me about a c section and early delivery and about how smaller babies dont cope as well with labour as bigger babies, words like resuscitation were also thrown in.

i suppose that by informing us of the possibilities they are just doing their job but i think they most likely end up causing unnecessary distress for women by telling us "it could be this" when they dont actually know the facts. not everyone has a text book pregnancy with spot on weight gain or measurements as i found out last friday.

i was on the verge of tears on the way to the hospital thinking that there was something not right with my son, feeling guilty that i havent put enough weight on in accordance to these so called guidelines. So i had the scan, fluid levels were fine, placenta working fine, and my son is measuring a week and four days ahead and is over the average gestational weight. she said i must just be hiding it well, there was absolutely nothing wrong with either me or the baby. so i wasted all that energy getting upset and worrying wondering about what ifs.

Good luck and i hope everything goes ok for you like it did for me!

i agree they should not scare you till they know the FACTS!'
glad everything was ok hun thats awesome!

My MW hasn't monitored my weight but I have lost weight in the last month. Partly because I stopped eating chocolate and crap that was giving me heartburn and partly because I have been ill, in hospital for 7 days with flu etc however baby seems completely unharmed by it all and I had a scan on Friday.

I started this pg the same weight as I was when newly pg with my ds, now I am the same weight as I was at 42 weeks with him, yet according to growth scan she is going to be same weight as he was - weighing over average.

I had the same words thrown out at me and of course I had to google IUGR ughh I dont know I feel like I am bigger I look like I have grown my fundal height is measuring waay ahead of where it should be , but the not gaining weight is pretty weird, I guess the ultrasound will tell all tommorow! He said if there are any concerns the tech will send me to the hospital and he will meet me there to discuss the options.

Also I have polyhydraminos which is carrying too much water, its not a huge amount over, but the same as with my son , its just something my body does retains a ton of water! No idea why., I am wondering if maybe baby is growing still and ive just relaxed on retaining the water?

I dont know ive started on some "boost nutritional drinks" as I feel terrible about not gaining weight and its eating me alive , because I DO EAT!! I love to eat but I look back and think maybe I wasnt eating the right things the last 2 weeks, so I should gain something with these nutritional drinks!

i love my doctor keeps me informed but at the same time I think that he should of just waited until I had the scan to throw the words IUGR at me.. Its made me worry HUGE!:nope:

Thanks luvs for all the replys! Im having a major DOWN day... counting down the hours until the scan tommorow.

Ive incuded a pic of
1. 34 weeks
2. 35 weeks

Your bump is HUGE!!

You look fab!

I never actually got weighed apart from at the initial booking in appt.

My bump was tiny throughout my pregnancy and never once was I weighed - I was sent for a growth scan around 36wks and all was fine.:flower:

Baby is measuring 3 weeks ahead and I'm still 3kg lighter now than at my booking appointment and not gained any over the past 4 weeks - the scan will tell you what you need to know and I hope it's all good.
xx

Thanks so much ladies, I feel huge, but when your told bad news its liek you wonder if you feeling huge is just in your head LOL!!

I will update after my scan tommorow!! Hopefully with good news!!

i was only ever weighed at my first apt with midwife. from about 25 wks they then just measured the fundal height. i did weigh myself every now and again later on and didnt gain a significant amount of weight. Hope all goes wel....im sure it will all be fine xx

Awww don't worry too much, believe me you can not gain weight and your baby is! I have gained 1lb in 10 weeks! My pattern at my ob checkbox has been as follows: Gained 1, gained 1, lost 1, stayed same

And despite that, baby is big at 6lbs at the moment and I've only had a total weight gain of 10lbs in my whole pregnancy and I am still -16lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight! B

So unless you have other problems like leaking waters or baby has physical signs of problems, don't let them worry you!

I am exactly as far along as you and have put on a ton of weight all throughout the pregnancy but at my last appt I had lost 3 pounds, but they did an ultrasound and baby is doing fine, so I think the weight came off from somewhere else. Don't worry too much, I am sure everything is fine.
