Don't be sad that you can't give the children exactly what they have asked for, you will be teaching them a valuable lesson that they will appreciate in later life...you dont always get what you ask for and sometimes you have to wait for things. They might not like it now but when they are older they will thank you for it and may not feel guilty just because THEY might not be able to give THEIR children everything they ask for.
I certainly didn't get everything i wanted as a child but i dont love my parents any less for it, im just amazed we got what we did as there were 4 of us....and i know that if i want something i have to either save up or work for it. Im not in debt and im sure its because my mum always said 'dont spend money you haven't got'.
