stretch and sweep - and bleeding

Hi
I have this morning had a stretch and sweep. My cervix today was 2 cm dilated and effaced which is good cos last week it was tightly shut. My doc said she was particularly agressive with it, and as such I have been bleeding since.

My doc said it was 'favourable' however I was induced on both previous pregnancies so am not sure its goin to work. Failing this, I am booked i for a c section next Thurs (30th). They have refused to induce cos of complications - shoulder distocia with my 2nd...

Does anyone have any idea how long a sweep tends to take if its going to work????

Bleeding can be normal after a sweep but if u get worried ring labour ward ...If the sweep works u should be in labour within 72 hrs

If it will work it will work within 72 hours. My midwife informed me bleeding is completely normal aslong as it is mucussy (sp) if it is liquid blood i'd ring just incase.

It is quite red and fresh - quite a shock after being blood free for so long!!

I did ring - they said it was quite normal to bleed for up to 24 hours after - great!
