Hi Ladies.. I am early in pregnancy but I wanted to see if anyone had any good experiences with stretch mark prevention creams. Aside of consuming a lot of water and eating well, has anything worked to keep these marks at bay?
i used bio-oil for first few months then a friend told me asda's little angels oil is just as good and only about £2 a bottle. tried it and it was brilliant. my little girl is here and all i have is only tiny silver mark (smaller than size of my finger nail) on my boob from my milk coming in yesterday - didnt think to put oil on for that! didnt get one mark during my pregnancy though xxx
Start using them now, the earlier the better. I have quite a few stretchmarks on my bum but only just started on my belly and im over 37weeks pregnant! Cocoa butter (palmers) and bio oil, i use them both alternating from day to day and i think although they didnt completely prevent stretch marks, they stopped them being too bad, dry skin = stretch marks in my opinion, good luck hun! x
Creams and lotions do not work. Best chance of not gettig any is lots of water, excersise, slow weight gain, and no scratching the itch on belly if you get itchy. So far i've been in the clear but I still got 4 weeks to go.
Ive moisturised religiously every night and sometimes more than once a day if I remember. I havent used anything specific, just a mixture of all the moisturisers and body butters Ive accumulated over time ie. birthday and xmas presents. Still dont have any marks but I can feel my bump getting tighter so I think its only a matter of time until they all burst through!
Drinking lots, eating healthy and gentle exercise has been the remainder of my 'routine' and the odd chocolate and takeaway binge too!
I think most of it is down to luck though
I think so much if it is just person dependent too. It really varies. I have gained about 10 lbs my entire pregnancy, and I still have lots of stretchmarks. I don't think there was anything I could have done about it. I also didn't even start showing, really until week 28 or so. You just accept them for what they are - a beautiful reminder that you created a life inside you!
I got ALOT through my first pegnancywhen I didn't use any creams or oils. This time I asdas own make and it's brill (smells great too). My old ones haven't even gotten worse and are still silver/white.
I used the cream and oils.... never got a stretch mark until 35/36 weeks then........ BAM! They are popping up all the time, wouldn't mind if baby made an appearance now might save me a few marks lol. x
I started using lotions from day one!! I used Palmers for the longest time, I now am using some Skin So Soft with body oil in it (only because I dont have the extra money for Palmers) and I dont have any stretch marks, well I have two small red marks above my belly button but thats it. And I'm 36 Weeks. I think it just varies from person to person though. Drink lots of fluids, especially water and stay active it helps too.
Well I haven't gotten any so far...my bump has gradually grown-no huge spurts which I think has helped in not getting them too.
I used Belli Oil, vitamin e/lavendar oil mix, and cocoa butter! I still use it daily and I drink a lot of water, try to keep active, and I eat relatively well!!
Pfft, I had stretch marks b4 pregnant so wasnt that bothered but ive got one that recently been really sore and giving me grief so tried the palmers cocoa sample from bounty pack n it eased it, so much so I brought more today in Morrisons then went to asda and saw it was bloody cheaper!! Typical
I used nothing with DD, assuming that oils and creams were a gimmick. But a lot of mummy friends and my sister swear by bio oil - so I gave in this time! Only got a few with DD but I certainly don't want any more if I can avoid them!
i have used palmers & vaseline moisturisers every day the whole way through the pregnancy & put baby oil in my baths, fingers crossed i have not got any stretch marks, this is my first baby aswell so might just be really lucky i havent got any,but there is still 3 weeks left so we shall see.
It just depends on you yourself thats why some people get them and some people don't... It doesn't matter if you get them babe yes they are redish pinkish purple at first but after a few months they fade into silver ones that aren't noticable xx
Well, I don't know if it's just a coincidence but I am 35 weeks pregnant and twice a day I rub a mixture of Nivea Creme (the heavy stuff! and some extra virgin olive oil on my belly and I don't have one stretch mark. I thought I would be like a road-map by now!
I think it's mostly genetic though to be honest.
I've also heard that it's mostly younger women who get them - I don't know how accurate that statement is though.
I have alternated between palmers butter and Bio oil. (says you shouldn't use bio oil for more than 3 months at a time on the bottle) Anyway im now 39 weeks and I am not sure but I think I might be getting some stretch marks.
TBH I hear they are genetic, I have tried this theory, I used bio oil all through my first pregnancy and no stretch marks at all - I have not used any oils or creams with the second pregnancy and still no stretch marks. They are either going to appear afterwards or not at all.
