Strong pain on left side? Help :(

Hey ladies.

I'm 3 dpo today, but this started last night.

At first, I was having mild, AF-like cramps.
Then, the cramps stopped and I started getting these shoots of pain on my left side (like- left ovary). They were coming and going like clockwork, about every 20 seconds and they would last for about 5 seconds. The pain wasn't so bad that I was crying from it, or anything, but it definitely caused me to sit up and take notice.
I went to sleep last night and I woke up a few times in the middle of the night (not from the pains, just normal for me), and every time I woke up, the pain was still there, coming and going. A rare few times, it was on the right side, but it's about 99% left sided.
The pain stopped about 10 AM but it really freaked me out. This is my first cycle ttc and I'm now really worried that I may have a cyst or something

Anyone know what this could be? My friend suggested ovulation pains but I've never felt O pains like this before- or that lasted this long.

Were you on the BCP before TTC? I had never had O pains before (meaning before I went on BCP) but was on it for like 10 years or something... once I came off, I had exactly what you're describing - I've been TTC #1 for 3 months and each month I get the same thing - sometimes left, sometimes right, so while at first I thought it was a cyst, now I'm convinced it's O pains (well, hopefully!!!). O pains can last for an hour or two, or even a day or two apparently.

The other thing is could be... implantation maybe?? I've never been preggo before but some people on this site have suggested that cramping after O could just be implantation, and your uterus moving around, getting bigger...

Thanks for the response! I should have o'd on the 18th, but who knows? I dont temp or opk, but we have had enough to cover any day at this point. The earliest I could have o'd was the 15th an I was really hoping this was implantation bleeding. But I haven't heard anyone else say it felt like this!!

I have only been on BCPs once, and it was 5 yes ago or something, for a month. So that's not it but I wish I knew for sure!!

I felt something like that last week that woke me out of a sound sleep. I had all kinds of cramps and thought I had to be pregnant, but I have concluded it is Nuvaring completely messing up my body. This is my 2nd cycle off birth control. I had the pains about a week after when I believe ovulation was.

Left side is usual bowel/digestion! Sorry to be too personal and gross, lol. But if things haven't been normal there, could be that. Maybe try a bowl of oatmeal and/or fruit?

Another TMI thing = sometimes air gets pushed up during sex and it can be really painful, or if the cervix gets hit it can be really painful.

But if its not that, it could be ovary pain. It could be a cyst... I had something similar happen last month and I went to the urgent care and they said that there was not much they could do. Could've been a cyst, maybe not though. If you are in really bad pain and it won't go away, I'd go to the hospital! Many people have just one cyst and never have another ever or not for years. They are pretty common really.
