Monday because of work errands I wasn't able to pump when I needed to. By the time I got back to the office where I could pump I had shooting pains through my right breast. I pumped and was okay afterwards. Next day I wake up and feel a hard lump in my breast. Still there. I tried massaging under a hot shower last night but it did nothing. Hurts like hell and I'm stuck at work and can't do warm compresses and massage because its well...awkward. :growlmad: Thanks work.

You should take tomorrow as a sick day or your going to make yourself ill Hun x

Will it work itself out without me doing anything for it? I got mastitis when my LO was 2 weeks old and I got sick in a matter of hours...this lump has been here since yesterday so I figured if I was going to get hit with mastitis it would've happened already.

no it won't work itself out unfortunately...pump and feed as much as possible:( I had one too he just sucked it out (yack lol) today and it's much better but there is no other way I know of sorry hope you feel bettwe soon x

Massage, feeding at different angles, suckling lots and lots...

Cabbage in the bra and pumping

Basically you need to take some time off to get that lump out because if it gets infected, your looking at a week off, not just a day

I get clogged ducts galore... I hate them and I have probably had about 50 or so since LO was born. I guess I am prone to it. LO needs to suck it out, and if that fails and you're not too shy about it, ask your OH to suck it out. I can feel when it releases and then I can pump/squeeze the rest of milk out. I can trap about 3 ounces in a clogged duct. This is probably the main reason I am not so fond of BF. Good luck.

I had a blocked duct last week, lo was in icu and I was pimping 4 hourly for 4 days, then she was allowed to feed again and I started with a blocked duct the following morning, it bloody hurt but I kept feeding and it resolved with 2 days.

You can massage it gently with an electric toothbrush to help break it up too. That's what I've done on the 2 occasions I've had them. Not sure I'd take a day off over it, but I'd definitely try and get it shifted as soon as possible.

omg 3 oz....it feels like its about that much...clog feels bigger than a golf balll

As the other ladies say - hot shower, massage the blockage down towards the nipple. Can help if you can trigger a let down as the force can help move it out. Feed baby as soon as you get out the shower / bath when breast is still warm.

Dangle feeding can also help

You do need to get it unblocked asap - aside from it hurting, the longer it's there the more you're open to a bout of mastitis. :hugs:

Its still tender but I think I may have gotten it. It hurts less anyways...
