I should have just left well enough alone! I got a positive yesterday. It was light, but most definitely there! No squinting necessary. But this morning I wanted to see if it got darker. No. It was lighter. So I called my gp, and now I'm sitting here after the receptionist told me the test was negative.

Waiting for the doc to talk to me. I'm hoping he sends me for a blood test. But this is just frustrating!!!

Sorry for the rant. Just need people to hold my hand who understand.

I KNOW WHY! It takes more HCG for a positive to show up on Dr. office tests. They aren't as sensitive.

I wouldn't worry about a lighter line today. They are meant to say yes or no and it can take a few days to get darker.

I'd get a blood test, or just wait. The truth will come. Big hugs.

Thank you so very much for commenting! With your response and after talking to the woman who drew my blood, I feel better and more relaxed.

Still... I hate the waiting game.

Drs office uses cheap tests.. So that can be true.
But this happened to me and it was an early loss. My RE did bloods and while I was bfp by betas they quickly decreased

I hate the waiting game as well. 2ww limbo always sucks.

I hope you hear great news! <3

I used cheap tests too. They were from the dollar store. It's what I've used for almost all my pregnancies.

I'm sorry to hear that Mississippi. That's awful :( I'm really hoping that's not the case here.

I used those tests too and they took forever for the line to darken. I really do think this is going to be good news. When will you hear?

Oh jeez! I read that as "I don't think this will be good news." I got sad for a sec haha.

They said they would call me tomorrow.

I was 4w6d when I went to my midwife... My cheap tests at home had JUST darkened up to the point of matching test/control lines that afternoon before I went in. The nurse took my urine sample and I thought nothing of it. I mean, I just gotten two blazing positives (on two different brands) right before showing up for my appointment. Yet my midwife walked in and coldly said that my test was SO faint that she had to squint. She said I was most likely going to get my period within the next few days, but there was also a chance that I was really pregnant and it was ectopic. She had me heartbroken and terrified. She gave me no hope-- all because of her stupid cheap test sticks. I had my beta drawn before leaving the office and she referred me for an ultrasound just to rule out an ectopic. Well, my beta results from that afternoon (when my test line was so faint that she had to squint to see it) was 664. My only conclusion is that their tests must have a positive HCG threshold of like 1,000. Why else should she be squinting to see a line at 664???

I spent the entire first trimester terrified that something was wrong thanks to her... But everything was fine. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with a healthy little girl now. My story is not unique either. I've heard of many women getting false negatives at the doctor's office but having successful pregnancies. I think these offices all must be buying the same very-low-sensitivity tests.

Fingers crossed for you. :hugs:

Oh thank you!! I haven't been to the doctors so early before. So I guess in not used to it. Thank you again for the hope!!

No problem! I'd also never been to the doctor so early in pregnancy before and had no idea what to expect. (It was a scheduling mix-up from my referring GP.)

I think that many providers also aren't experienced with dealing with women so early in their pregnancy. Before my midwife told me that the test was faint and that the pregnancy was not viable, she had walked into the room mumbling and ranting about how she wished it was like "30 years ago when you had to miss TWO periods before you could go to the doctor-- and women couldn't take pregnancy tests at home". Obviously this lady was way old school (and rude) but I do think it's an example of just how clueless many providers are about the very early stages of pregnancy. Unless you happen to get lucky, or are seeing a fertility specialist, the chances are that early pregnancy is just not something your provider is equipped to cope with.

Wow!!!! That's awful!!! How is she even dealing with people?! She shouldn't be allowed.

That was my thought in the beginning. She's no longer my midwife, but she wasn't quite as terrible once the pregnancy progressed. She was just clueless about very early pregnancy and was missing that handy brain-to-mouth filter that the most of us have, which keeps people from wanting b to punch us in the face. Lmao!

Seriously, though... Fingers crossed extra tight that you get good news when your betas come back. Will that be tomorrow?

That's good! I don't deal with that well. Especially with doctors. I need friendly people that I can trust.

Yes, they said they would call me tomorrow. I hope it's early in the day!

Thinking of you and hoping for good news! :flower:

Well he called this morning and I missed it unfortunately. My husband talked to him, but he said it was confidential and all he told him was that I need to stop taking my anxiety/depression meds. But I'm getting cramps right now (Not bad ones) and there was a little blood when I wiped. I know that these are all normal, so I'm not panicking yet. But still... after losing 3 babies, can't help but worry a little.

Any update? Been thinking about you. Hope you were able to talk to your doctor and that your cramping and spotting eased up. :hugs:

Yes. I have talked to doc. I had blood drawn on Tuesday afternoon, and beta was 53 then again this morning and it was 169. He said it's rising quickly and made a joke that it might be twins haha. So I'm most definitely pregnant.

Now the only this is, I'm classified as a very high risk pregnancy because I've had 3 c sections. So he's already rendered me to a specialist and he's hoping I'll be seen before Wednesday next week.

He was also hinting at us terminating the pregnancy at which point I said no. Not a chance. My husband agreed with me. So we're just going to take it day by day and hope for the best!

Prayers are always welcome!!

Wow! Yes I wouldn't terminate either...

I'm glad to see you are pregnant and your numbers are rising. <3

Thank you for agreeing. I know that he has to say it, but still. What an awful thing to mention!
