my daughter is just about 27 months and is very advanced with her language (so i'm told) but sometimes she starts stuttering in a weird way. she will go to say "that's not nice" and she will say "nananana nice" or "Cinderella" which is usually prounouced indibella she will say "bababababbabella"

sometimes it sounds like she's just trying to imitate the sounds like "na na nice = that's not nice" but other times she will say it perfectly fine. I don't know if this is something I should mention to her doctor.

Its pretty normal from 2-4 age group, as sometimes their thoughts just run way faster than they can get it out of their mouth properly. Most outgrow it by school age, and if they don't, that's when they may need speech therapy help.

I've heard and read that this is actually pretty common for that 'age group' and that it's totally normal. Their mind is just going too fast for their mouth :haha: Actually, my best friends 2.5 year old has recently been doing it as well.

My son had it for about 6 months. Very common, as above!

My son had a bad stutter at one point and I really worried about it. It's gone now but occasionally comes back but at one point it went on for weeks and I was so worried but honestly it's better now. I read too it's their development and my son too - so I was told as well - was advanced in his speech so it seems to correlate x

I'm an SLT and it is really common between 2 and 5 years as there's so much language development occurring. My DS is 3 in July and he goes through periods when he's really dysfluent, it generally calms down again but it's hard to watch him struggle without intervening ( as that would make him aware of it and atm he isn't). He's also very advanced with his speech and language. I'd keep an eye on it and if you notice it becoming more severe speak to your HV or GP x

thank you so much for your responses! I do think she is just trying to get it out so quickly.

It is normal hun. DD was advanced talker too and is also bilingual. However, one day she just started stuttering out of the blue. She was around 3yrs. I think she just started picking this up from other children at nursery (as her keyworker mentioned) as they all talk at different levels so its completely normal. I cant even remember how long it lasted but it stopped shortly.
