Hi, do you give your LOs supper and what is it?
My DD finally started going through the night without milk at 1 year old (dropped it herself after us trying everything for 4 months before then) and has managed without it for a couple of months (still waking in the night sometimes but not for milk). However the last 10 days or so she has been waking in the night and just will not settle until she has had at least 100ml of milk! she is still eating and drinking the same (if not more) in the day. If she hasnt woken for it then she wakes really early e.g.5am.
My friend suggested I give her a supper just before bed of maybe weetabix? so I was wondering if you think it will work or have had success with it?
She has just started walking 4 days ago so would that make a difference?

Neither of my LOs have ever had supper.

They have dinner around 5.30pm, and they will have a cup of milk about 7.30pm before bed.:flower:

Thanks, she has tea at 5.30 and the a bottle of milk (210ml) before bed at 7pm so I dont know really. I guess she would have supper at 6.30-6.45ish after her bath...

If its to try stop night/early morning wakings then I would certainly give it a shot!

Earl's had supper offered since he was about 15ish months, when he started to sleep through as like your LO he would wake at silly hour otherwise. At that age I would offer him a biscuit (normally something like garibaldi), dry cereal, some raisins, half a slice of toast. It's simply a snack - to add body to the bedtime milk so it wasn't about filling him up as much as it is to make him feel satisfied. As he's gotten older the amount of milk has dropped to a cup, but he'll still have a supper of pretty much the same (2 biscuits, a slice of toast, small bowl of cereal with milk on, leftovers from dinner).

Starting to walk is going to have an impact so don't expect miracles, but it can't hurt. LOs prefer to eat little and often so expecting them to go 14+ hours from dinner to breakfast is a lot....it is for me, let alone the kids! lol

Hm I guess we are doing things a bit differently then. Our boys have three solid meals a day and one of them is dinner at 6:15ish and they get a bottle after we changed them into their sleep things, then we put them to bed by 7.

Our feeding routine is something like this:
wakeup bottle at 7ish,
an hour later breakfast which is usually porridge with fruit
Lunch is at 11:30
Bottle at 3
Dinner 6:15
Bottle 6:50

When Riley goes to nursery he has dinner around 4:30- so I give him some 'supper' around 6:15 - just a teacake or toastie or crumpets/cereal.

Other days no, I usually give him proper dinner around 5 and then he may have a snack before bed x

At your LO's age we gave DS some of whatever we were eating and a straw cup of whole milk, at around 5:30pm. Then he'd have an 8oz bottle of milk right before bed (bed at 6:30pm). Some days he would eat a ton, and other days he would barely eat anything.. on those days we'd give him something we knew he'd eat towards the end of the meal (toast/cheese). With DS, his food intake never seems to affect his sleep.

Thanks for the replies! I tried weetabix the night before last (about 6.30pm) but she was awful to settle and didnt go to sleep unti 9pm!! (she had a late nap :( ) but she then slept til 6.50am with no milk!! :) yesterday she was a nursery so she had 'tea' at 4.30ish and apparently didnt eat much so I gave her some leftover pasta and a biscuit when we got home at about 6pm and she ate quite a lot, she then had 240ml of milk at 6.40pm and .....Then slept 6.45pm - 6.10am!!! amazing for her!!
Think this eve I will try and either move tea time later, maybe about 6pmish rather than 5.30 and give her a bigger snack at 4pm to keep her going. Or I may just do weetabix again...not sure!

I give my little boy a little bowl of "Hot Oats" (which is like ready brek just asda or tesco's own brand) with milk.. warmed in microwave and have done since he was about 1year old.
He usually has that about 6:00/6:15pm and goes bed usually for about 7:00/8:00pm.
Ive noticed he seems to digest ready brek better than weetabix.
