I just wanted to pose this question out there. Are any of you wanting a certain gender?

I know that I am hoping for a girl. From what I have read it is harder to concieve a girl than a boy. Although I don't know if the methods are accurate and actually happen.

I am going to be trying the shettles method where we will have intercourse after AF every other day until 3 days before ovulation. My cycles are fairly normal so I am hoping I can figure it out. I will also be using OPK kits and they let you know anyhwere from 12-48 hours before O. I also know how to tell if I am fertile and I have read about that. So, I think I should be pretty good.

Does anyone have any other tips or tricks they used to concieve a certain gender?

Sandy

I'd love to have a girl first, but honestly, I'd be ecstatic with whatever sex the baby is. If you have sex further away from your ovulation date, you are more likely to have a girl because the sperm carring the X chromosomes lives longer in your body but are slower swimmers.

I'm the same, I want a baby girl, but a boy would be just as loved. I just want a girl to play with baby dolls and barbies with, lol:blush:

Ideal scenario for me would be twins, one boy, one girl. If it's just the one (much more likely) I'd choose a boy. I am fairly sceptical of the 'choose your baby's sex' methods out there, but I will try a few and see what happens. At the end of the day though, a healthy child will fit the bill just great :)

same here too... I would love a baby girl...and name her after my mom but having a baby boy is ok too since I love little boys... and have so many baby boy things saved...anything as long as its a happy healthy baby!!!!

i just want a baby the gender should no effect at all.. a child is a miracle.. it makes it sound like if u had a boy youd be dissapointed..

to me gender doesnt matter in the slightest.. i can only have one and that child will be my miracle.. so girl or boy i dnt care..

Hiya,
I read ur post and had to answer, im almost 39 weeks pregnant with a girl, i have 3 boys and was desperate for a daughter, my husband and i said we would have 1 last go at trying for a girl so i did alot of research on the internet on how to tip the scales before we started, i didnt just want to leave it to chance. I also did the shettles method and opk, and i charted for a few months just to make sure i could pinpoint accurately when i ovulated i also took magnesium an calcium supplements as this is also supposed to help concieve a girl. It took me 5 months to get pregnant but im sure it was down to me tipping the scales rather than just pure luck that im gonna have my longed for daughter in just over a weeks time. I wish u all the luck in the world and hope u get a daughter.

I keep on reading about magnesium an calcium supplements did you tell your doctor that you were planing on taking them ? for how long and how many were you taking ? I wonder if it actually help at all... well what ever it was congratulations on your little girl....:happydance:

Congrats on your baby girl!

I would love to have twins too - one boy, one girl. DH looked quite ill when I told him I thought it would be great if we had twins.

That made me chuckle! Pictured some poor bloke looking pale! My DH actually surprised me and has said that twins would be good because it would be 'out the way' all in one hit, which I have to say, is a fair point :) Not sure there's much you can do to encourage twins naturally...

Same! I'm leaning towards a boy, oh how I'd love a house full of little boys, but I'd love a girl just as much too!:happydance:

I used to make a big fuss about wanting a girl. Then I got preggo, had a mc, and have no babe at all.

I'm not really swaying for a particular gender, but to be honest its just easier to plan for girls IMO.

I want a girl more than anything. If I had a boy first I would be disapointed but I would probably love it just as much. I Hope whatever I have that I have one of each because that is what we want.

im sorry but that is horrid.. ud be dissapointed!! a baby is a miracle of life a lot of women dont even get 2 experiance that..
sex of baby shuddnt matter in the slightest! id give my whole world to be able 2 have a baby normally and when i finally get my baby i wont be picky of the sex coz i would have got my child...
it just horrfies me 2 think if u gt preg n it was a boy youd be unhappy.. when so many people would do anything 4 that chance.

Hi oulina,
To answer ur question, no i didnt consult the doctor about taking the magnesium and calcium, i just bought them from tesco an it says on the bottle how many of each to take and i was taking them for about 5 months whilst we were trying to conceive.

If anybody is interested the link below is to a site which has a whole section on different types of gender swaying. Some of them are down to what you eat to affect you PH level down below and others are the hi-tech methods and some are more tricly methods to try at home using eggs and syringes and I mean chicken eggs!! not human eggs lol. Might be worth a quick nosey if you have a preference.

I've just got to add I'm not poaching people over to the in-gender site lol, this is my by far fave baby site they just specialise in certain things which may come in handy sometimes.

One more thing lol, I have tried gently to sway for a boy this time. I tried to avoid dairy before and bd on the day after my opk peak, in the morning when ew is more alkaline and with no prior nookie in the week before (this was easy due to OH just being out of hospital poor love)!! We will see Feb if it worked. So far my ms is for a boy and other signs seem boy but you never know, happy and healthy is top priority.

Sorry Tracie but that are my feelings. I'm sorry you don't agree with me. If I could, we would do something where we could make sure we got a girl and a boy but unfortunately that is too expensive. I just pray that God gives me one of each.

I really couldn't care less, as long as it's healthy that's all I want. But if I had a boy or girl first, I would want to keep trying until I got a baby of the opposite sex, just to experience being a parent to both. But then twins run in my family so I may be lucky and have a boy and girl together. *wishing* xx
