sweeps? how effective

just got a call from my midwife explainint they want to do my sweep earlier then planned so i got my sweep this fri the 23rd sep and my due date is 25th..

this is the second baby and just curious of ur experiences of having a sweep and how effective it was and how long after did u either have contractions or ur waters break
as i have 2 sweeps with my 1st baby n none of them helped atall..

I'd like to know the answer to this too, as I think my MW will suggest one at my appointment tomorrow. I don't want one if it's not going to kick start labor. I've never had to have one before as I'd had my boys by now x

Both worked for me with mine. My son was 'term' at around 40 weeks (I had a late dating scan). I went within 24 hours. My daughter was around 38/39 weeks, can't remember exactly. And I went within 48 hours with her. I'd had pain and contractions, but I went to bed and they went off the boil. The following night I started doing squats lol and contractions came on, she was born at 8am following morning .

I also wondered how effective they are as my midwife said yessterday they work for most people but not everyone and im having one on thursday and if it doesnt work i'll be getting another next tuesday. If either dont work i'll be induced on the 1st of october.

I've had 2 and they havnt worked I had my first one on Friday, bled a little after then nothing, I had my 2nd yesterday and again nothing! :-/

Well i dont think i've had any bleeding to be honest unless the brown tingy stuff is classed as blood?
So if the sweep does that then i'll know its done something at least.

I had three and none worked. Despite them doing it so hard and painful It was useless and I am going to refuse them this time

I had a bit of red blood after the first which turned brown but nothing else :-/ I've got to be induced tomorrow if he doesn't come today/tonight

Yeah i have to be induced on the 1st of october if none of the 2 sweeps work...
Dont want to be induced so hopefully something happens soon.

I don't want to be induced either I'm 11 days over today though so can't go much further :-/

I thinking mines a boy now cos supposidly boys are more stubborn and just dont want to come out argh annoying.
