Swelling in ankles....

When does the swelling in your ankles become a sign of pre eclampsia?? My mw said when i mentioned it to her before just to keep an eye on it as you can still have pre eclampsia with just one or two signs of it. My ankles swell during the day and are pretty bad this time of the evening,but the swelling/pitting in my skin from my socks hasnt even gone when i get in bed bout 11 in the evening. Does anyone else have pitting in their ankles and it takes forever to go??

i did have with DD2. im not sure to be honest hun. i just kept mentioning it to them every time i saw them in the hope they would pick it up if needed. just really wanted to send you some hugs for the day. xxx

ive got really bad swelling in my anckles mine just doesnt go down at all has stayed the same for over 3 weeks now and im sick alot latley . my bloodpresure is fine and my waters r fine so my mw thinks its just normal swelling.

I'd keep mentioning it. Do you have any other pre eclampsia symptoms? I've got terribly swollen ankles but I had the pre eclampsia blood tests done last week and I havent got it. My consultant says try to stay off my feet as much as poss xxx

i had really puffy ankles with ds that lasted post birth for a while too, and they are getting bad now but thats caus baby is past due and im spending alot of time upright with my feet down lol,

Ive had some really bad headaches. Had an awful one today but havent got anything other than that. Bp seemed fine when i last saw mw. I didnt realise you could have tests done to check for pre eclampsia. Im just a bit worried about my ankles and that the pitting/swelling takes such a long time to go down.I will definately mention it again. I am on bedrest at the moment so im not on my feet alot anyway,hence my concern too.

Aww poor you , I keep getting dreadful headahces too. Make sure you're drinking enough water it will help the swelling. My consultants given me the blood tests twice I think they check your liver and kidney function. xxx

my cankles are huge, and my sock marks stay all night!

The tops of my feets are so bruised too!

Midwife wasnt worried last week!

i mention it every time i go to the doc (on weekly visits now). my sock marks never go down and my legs are SO swollen. DH says I look like I am wearing a fat suit. I had to buy new shoes to wear to work b/c my ankles/feet/legs are so swollen. My BP is fine though. Doc says it's just water retention and will go down once LO is here. I'm just glad it's not the summer and I have to wear pants right now to cover up the tree trunks I have!

My ankles and feet are really swollen too. They have been like that from about 30 weeks, my blood pressure is fine and the mw is not worried. I've cut the tops off my socks and have been wearing loose trainers. Only a week to go! Apparently they don't go down straight away after the birth. My feet feel like I've got money bags full of water under the skin. Thank goodness it's not flip flop weather!

the last time i had that i was told it was water retention and that i should reduce my salt intake and standing for too long. i was also told to elevate my feet a bit whilst sitting. it helped a lot though

Hey hun, I know im my other pregnancies I also had quite a bit of swelling in my ankles and hands but everything was always fine with my bp and urine! This pregnancy I haven't had any swelling yet, not holding my breath though as i've still got plenty of time lol I'd just keep mentioning it to your midwife whenever you see her

Hey hunny...So nice to see you here! I did mention it to the mw last time i saw her,and her reply was just that its the severity that we should watch,as you dont always show pre eclampsia in urine or bp I will mention it to her again when i see her,but im seeing my consultant on friday for my next doppler scan so might ask her too. How are you feeling? I have my GTT tomorrow,have you ever had one of those?

I've been lucky with my pregnancies, the worst I have had is SPD, i've never had a GTT done before, what would make them want to do one? Clueless I am! lol You'll have to let me know how you get on

I cant eat anything from 10 tonight untill bout 12 tomorrow afternoon. I can only sip water. Not sure how im going to cope with that as im hungry all the time and feel really sick if i dont eat.

Iv got the worse swelling in ancles and feet and hands as long as you dont have all the signs of pre eclamsia which is -Swelling,headaches,back or flashing lights in your eyess,high bp and protien in urine you`ll be ok but only the midwife can decide this i was in hospital last week with a scare they though i had it.x

Oh no, that does sound awful! I still get really sickly if I don't eat often enough aswell, at least its worth it! Im seeing my midwife next Thursday, it seems like forever ago I saw her last lol Talking about not eating, my 5 yr old is going to have grommets put in on Thursday and i've got to stop him eating from 10am till 5pm, he is not going to enjoy that lol

I have really bad swollen ankles and feet. My mw said she wasn't worried unless my bp was high and I got positive sugar levels in my urine. As my bp is fine and mthe urine fine, she just said its one of those things. She did say I should ring her though if my hands and face also become swollen as thats more often a symptom of PE rather than just a general pregnancy symptom

I wish my mw was as concerned, I've been having the same for a couple of weeks along with blurred vision, well my eyes not being right in general. My mw didn't even look up from her notes nevermind put my mind at ease

Just glad I'll not have to see her as much after monday
