switching from aptamil to cow and gate...advice?

so we started her on sma which the doctor told us to change to aptamil due to her having constipation and lots of trapped wind! but its gone from one extreme to another. she is now having lots of diorrhea with the aptamil and it is actually causing her distress when she is going. i went and got cow and gate there and want to switch. can i just change over straight away or leave her with the aptamil for the night or whats best to do? is is bad for her to keep changing she is 3 weeks and was on the sma for the first week and then apatiml and then this one now.could it cause her harm?

There is no point in changing to cow and gate hun - they are EXACTLY the same ingrediants and EXACTLY the same amounts - just differnt names - they are the exactly the same company. If you don't believe me compare the backs of the boxes and see for your self. I know this is true because a friend works for cow and gate and aptamil! They are exactly the same formula - just a differnt box.

i disagree with tigerpony

we changed lo from aptimil to C&G too as he was pooing all the time

C&G has more whey in it (sma even more than C&G, aptimil the least hence the most watery).

when we changed him, his poos completely changed. Before he was pooing constantly (literally), and he changed to once a day to once every 2 days

our hv recommended changing gradually over 2 weeks. First week do 1/3 C&G, and the 2nd do 2/3. But this is up to you really, go with what you think

babys tummy might take a few days to get used to the change, but the long term poo benefits are better!! x

i know that aptamil and cow and gate look the same but c and g agreed with my lo better than aptamil. I also recommend making the swop slowly, i recently changed to Hipp and did it gradually and it seemed to work out well. Jx

Ive just swapped from aptamil to hipp organic (didn't know it had to be gradual we have just changed)

But agreed with the others poo"s were runny so hopefully this will be better. Originally on sma and that was worse. Xxx

I dont understand - my friend wouldnt lie and also compare the backs for yourself - im sure every amount of inrediant (including whey...) is exactly the same - cow and gate is just as watery as aptamil to me?

they have different amounts of whey in is the main differentiator.

All formulas arent the same (or there would only be one!)

They taste a bit different - I think C&G tastes better. Why is C&G much cheaper?

well i changed. cow and gate is finally the right one for her! she is alot better on the cow and gate and yay its doesnt stink like the aptamil did!
