symptoms of twins????

Twins run in my husband's family and i was wondering if there any signs/symptoms that might show themselves before 12wk scan?

Hi - you can normally tell if you're having twins by taking a blood test and checking your beta hcg levels - if they are really high levls, is a good sign of twins!

Fraternal twins run through the maternal line not the paternal, so the fact they run in your hubbies family will have no bearing on whether you have them. Identical twins on the other hand is a random 'mistake' at conception.

My sis is having identical twins and she has been super sick and proper shattered way more than she was in her previous singular pregnancies.

Other than that there is nothing except an early scan to actually confirm.

Hi, Im having twins, well the doctor told me identical twins are random and fraternal twins are from 2 eggs being released at the same time. And for fraternal twins to be hereditary it would have to be the maternal side. And I knew because I got my BFP when I was only 3 weeks pregnant and at 4w5d my hcg levels were as high as a 6 week pregnancy so they did an ultrasound thinking i was further and there was just two babies. im having fraternal twins, this is what my ultrasounds looked like

4 weeks and 5 days [first U/S]

Plus my husband had a 'gut' feeling there were two,and was right. lol.


Some symtoms Ive been having,
*REALLY BAD morning sickness that last all day long
*AF cramps
*headaches
*ear aches
*EXCESSIVE tiredness!!!!!!! [MAIN ONE!!!]

Only symptom I had when I was expecting twins was feeling or being sick until 14 weeks but I have felt the same, even worse with this 1 and there is only 1. I think only a scan can confirm it. I found out when I was 20 weeks as they didn't do 12 week scans then! x

I dont think you can really tell tbh, It seems normal symptoms are the same to 'twin' symptoms! The only way you will find out is at your scan I think

this is an interesting post - i was wondering if i could possibly have twins - my partner is a triplet and there are twins in the family!
my symptoms have been very strong very early on! so got me wondering
my mam suggested it last night to
my partners mam conceived naturally with triplets to!
i am not quiet sure what i would say if i was i would be ultra amaaaazed! would be lovly!!

from my personal opinion there are no real symptoms, i am huge and i mean huge look 6 month pregnant, have HG which doc thought could be due to multiples, extremmely horrific migraines, and really really tired. Went for scan yesterday and only one in there, so the common signs some say r twins can easily be just one as well
