Is anyone else experiencing tailbone pain? I fractured my tailbone when I was sixteen. I have not felt any pain since it healed but about a week ago my tailbone has been hurting when i sit wrong or try to get up from a sitting position. Im pretty sure it has to do with being pregnant and have heard that the tailbone wont feel better until after pregnancy. I have also heard that a vaginal birth can actually cause it to re fracture. Im really hoping this pain will go away soon!

I had a similar thing with a previous fracture site. I fractured my pubic rami (the underneath bit of the vagina) 9 years ago and pregnancy caused the pain to resurface after being relatively pain free for years. I was told by the physio that this is because of the hormones softening ligaments and joints to prepare for labour. Mine was at its worse from the late 2nd tri to early third tri and seems to have settled a bit now i'm 38+4. I dont think labour will affect me because i didn't need pins to repair the fracture. I imagine it is the same for you, if you didn't have pins to mend your tailbone it should have healed even stronger than before so try not to panic. Make sure you try to deliver your baby either standing up or squatting/kneeling while leaning forward - these are the positions that will move your tailbone out of the baby's way. Good luck hun xxx

I've not had any injuries to my tailbone... but just noticed today that when I'm up walking around it's a touch sore???? Thought that was kinda odd... and maybe a bit early? But I'm guessing the pressure below can do some crazy things! Ah, the joys!!!

Hope your feeling better soon and no complications :hugs:

Im in the U.S. and most of us have our babies laying on our back as we usually have epidurals. I plan on getting an epidural so at least if the fracture does hurt during birth I wont be able to feel it. I dont have any pins in it so hopefully it will be just fine. Thanks for the reply makes me feel a lot better!!!!

I injured mine in childbirth last time. :hugs: You could try to hit up some physio, and also google alternate birthing positions. Flat on your back is THE WORST and I really believe that is what effed up my back last time.

:hugs:
