I'm taking my LO on holiday to the Canaries tomorrow. She's exclusively BF and will not drink from a bottle or cup, we have tried hard! Will she be hydrated enough with BM alone? I was confident she would be but FIL has had plenty to say on this and has made me doubt myself! She is ok not being topped up with water isn't she??

Secondly, any tips to make the experience as easy as possible are welcome! Will her ears be ok on the plane? I plan to BF on take off and landing and am taking a dummy although she doesn't have one normally.

Thank you:flower:

Hiya I came back from Majorca yesterday and wish I still breastfed! I'd heck if hotel room has kettle as mine didn't so I had to buy one ther!

Does she only have breast milk at home or drink water? My dd wouldn't eat solids so drank a lot of milk and a lot of water/juice too she did get really thirsty! Id maybe give her cooled boiled water from bottle if she will have it but I'm pretty sure if u feed her often she will get enough from breast milk!

Dd was a nightmare on the way with her ears I tried bottle and dummy buy think breastfeeding will defo help! We had a late flight back so she slept all the way!

I'd also recommend taking loads of nappies and wipes as we went thru so many and had to buy 2 packs whilst ther which was 20euros! They were so expensive! She also lived in nappies so didn't need much clothes!

Hope u have a nice time and try to enjoy it! x

I don't BF myself, but i've read on here a lot that your BM will adapt and become more watery to keep LO hydrated. A BF baby only needs BM, your body will do everything it needs to

Tips wise, I just back from Majorca, and out there LO lived in just nappies and vests in the day and cool dresses at night. She didn't wear half the clothes I packed :dohh:

Take swim nappies, your regular nappies (lots of!) and about twice as many wipes as you think you'll need :D

Flying was fine for us, LO had her dummy for take off and landing and she was absolutely fine for take offs, but did cry on the descent both times  I just hugged her and held her close though and she was fine by the time we landed :)

GL hun and enjoy your holiday :boat:

Hi we came back from Ibiza last week and had a fab time.

Izzie isn't breast fed so we boiled bottled water to make her bottles and she was fine, the hotel also made her a slushy ice cream from her fruit puree which went down a treat in keeping her cool.

Flying there was brill in take off and landing with ni tears in either and she slept the whole journey once up until we came down. Coming back was fine until landing and she had a bad time coming down but the dummy helped.

I found the whole travelling with bottles very stressful through the airport but luckily you won't have to do that.

Clothes wise I took far too much. Izzie slept in a romper or vest and spent the days in her Thomson crech tshirt as it was the lightest cotton and a nappy. We started the day is such pretty outfits too! Lol.

Hope u have a fab time

Thank you all! I've been worried it will be stressful and Sophia will be unsettled but you've put my mind at rest a bit now! Hopefully we'll have a lovely time :happydance:

your body will adapt your milk to her needs so dont worry.

your FIL clearly doesnt realise how awesome your boobs are :)

I think you can just feed your LO a little bit extra if needed to make sure she's hydrated!

My mum took me to France when I was 3 months and it was boiling hot. I refused anything else than breastmilk, so she said she just fed me extra and that worked a treat!

Your body will make the milk more watery to suit your baby in the heat, its absolutely fine not to have extra water, just bf whenever she wants it,and if anyone remarks on how often she feeds ask them how many times have they eaten and drank today?!
