I am going on my hol soon... just back to skeggie to visit some old mates. I am taking Amelia with me on the train and once I get there I was thinking of getting a taxi from the train station to where I need to be. Does anyone know the rules regarding babies and car seats?? Do all taxi's have to have seats for kiddies? May I be turned away and told to walk or get a bus? (LoL)

most taxi companys hav hacknies (sp) its the big black ones where you can just have her push chair/pram with her inside it and you sit on teh seats does taht make sence?

but the taxi's here you have to supply your own car seat but im lucky enough we have a buggy bus here and Locky has the car so i never have needed a taxi

Taxi drivers dont care , they will let you on

i was in skegness a couple of weeks ago was visiting a mate in burgh le marsh for the week.

ahh thanks hun.. because its a holiday destination, they should realise that families r gonna be needing their taxi's hopefully and have some supplied!! I hope anyway!!

new taxi's have built in car seats
it pulls out in the middle looks like a arm rest!

but i always leave Harley in the buggy if i dont have a buggy then he just sits next to me.

i am going to skegness at the end of the month:happydance: i love it

I always wonder about this becuase I personally wouldnt let Ella in a car if she wasnt in a car seat, I worry too much about "what could" happen. I think taxi drivers should have a car seat in the boot for mums and babies but I doubt there are any that do lol

well if i get in a taxi, i just buckle chloe up and put callum on my knee :D

2. Are there any exemptions?
There are a few specific exceptions:
A. in a licensed taxi/private hire vehicle, if the right child restraint is not available
It is impracticable to expect the right child seat or booster to be available in a taxi unless a parent or carer has brought it with them. There is therefore a qualified exception which says that, if child restraints are not available in a licensed taxi or licensed private hire vehicle:
  • a child under 3 years old may travel unrestrained but in the rear only - this is the only exemption for a child under 3 years old;
  • a child aged 3 years and above must use an adult belt in the rear seat only.
Remember that any child up to 135 cms in a front seat of any vehicle must use the correct child seat or booster.
