I have been exclusively pumping and bottle feeding my little on since she was a couple days old. I would really like to try breastfeeding again now that I am healed and feeling more mentally up to it. I am able to get her to latch on even though it is a little painful but she only stays on for about 15-30 seconds and the lets go. It doesnt matter how many times I relatch this cycle just continues until she is frustrated and crying so i give a bottle and go pump. How can I teach her to nurse?

Have you tried the relaxed skin to skin, in bed, letting her find her own way method? Try taking a nursing holiday in bed with her, put her on your chest and give her time just to find her own way :)

Google breast crawl. There's videos of babies 6-10 weeks old who have never latched doing it for the first time!

There are a few things you could try.

I would suggest that you take a breastfeeding holiday that dazed suggested and make sure that you use lots of skin to skin contact.

It could also be that your let down is a little slow compared to the bottle feeding, so you could try expressing a little bit of milk before she latches and when she latches on and starts to suck the milk will be there, it sounds to me like she is sucking for 15-20 seconds and there is no milk yet, it frustrates her so she comes off. When I BF it takes about 30-60 seconds before my milk reaches LO as I have a really slow let down reflex.

It sounds like you need to keep baby close in bed with you and she can latch whenever she wants. Your nipples are going to be sore so make sure you keep using plenty of lanisoh as soon as she is finished.
