Teething/runny nose - connected?

Mil yesterday said she thinks H's long running cold is probably now just down to teething. She is probably right - H is grumpy and constantly chewing her fingers.

Has anyone else's lo been affected like this? H already has 8 front teeth and didn't have any real problems with those - I think these ones are further back. Poor little mite is sooooooooo snotty. Can't imagine where the hell it all comes from!!!

no, i dont think she is right at all tbh a cold is a cold and teething is teething

years ago they used to put everything down to bloody teething

When Daisy was ill (turned out to be mumps) the doctor tried to put it down to teething at first. She said teething can cause ear aches and sinus problems so that may well be what is causing Harriets's cold. However, after we found out Daisy actually had mumps I am much more wary about putting things down to teething now. I hope H is feeling 100% better soon .

My GP and HV both told me that teething can make babies "sinusy" !

Thanks ladies. She's got a high temp tonight (38.1) poor little soul, and I've got a rotten throat and am all bunged up so I think she's got a virus AND is teething. Poor little mite must feel rotten - she's struggling to sleep (which means mummy doesn't get any either!) because she's so snotty. I wish we mums could just take any illness they get and have it ourselves. It's awful when you know they feel dreadful.

It is so hard when they're ill. I caught mumps off Daisy and felt so, so ill and it was heartbreaking to me knowing she must have been feeling like that too.

I remember her getting them - poor little sausage - I had mumps when I was little - soooo horrible.
