We've shared the news with a few family members & 2 close friends. Last time I started to let people know at 14 weeks......that's when I told my work.

if you're worried about her telling, just explain to her again that its really important to you that she keeps it a secret as you didnt want anyone to know until 12 weeks and make sure you stress to her how important it is for you to keep it a secret and im sure she'll understand and keep it to herself. don't let it get you down too much im sure everything will be fine. xx

i told most of my family about a week after i'd had it confirmed at the hospital (approx 4 weeks but could have been 12 weeks due to my cycles) then i told work after i'd had a scan at 7w-2days as i do alot of driving for work approx 600-1000 miles a weeks when i'm busy so i needed them to know so they could be flexible with my diary and do their risk assessment.

then told a few other close family members. when i've had my appointment with the thyroid specialist tomorrow (hopefully another scan) we will tell the rest of the family i'll be 10 weeks tomorrow!

we've worked on the basis that a heartbeat is as close to a certain pregnancy you can get!
(there's still no guarantees after 12weeks anyway though the odds are very low after seeing a heartbeat)

In Regards to your sister mentioning your pregnancy remember: Good news travels fast, tell her how much you trust her not to say anything till your ready and how disappointed you will be if she breaks your trust.

Aw, don't let it get you down. If you just explain to your sister how important it is for you to keep it a secret hopefully she will understand.
    And don't be silly...it won't jinx it!!

I also felt the same at the beginging. I told one of my sisters and made her swear not to tell anyone else. For some reason I wanted to wait until I was 8 weeks before I told my mum, dad and other sister, not quite sure why though!
I also had to tell my boss as I was quite sick and as it was a new job I didn't want her to think I was taking advantage being off and stuff.
Also told a couple of friends now too. I am terrible at keeping secrets!!
Now though but I will wait until Mondays 12 week scan before I tell the rest of the world. Can't wait!!

We told just our immediate families.

But then my FIL decided to take it upon himeself and tell a few others in the family- At the time this made me really upset about this and I felt like I had been jinxed now that other people knew also felt a bit betrayed

But I don't feel too bad about it now by DH is very logical and reassured me that just because a couple of people know it won't change anything.

My older (twin) brothers are having a 40th Birthday party when I'll be 10weeks. I don't really know how I'm going to handle it yet- i think everyone will be a bit suspicious because I'll be driving and I live within walking distance of the party and it normally wouldn't be like me to be at a party and not partake of a few socialables.

If we ever get pregnant again I think I'll either not tell anyone or get confidentiality agreements drawn up.

there is nothing to say telling anyone before 12 weeks means anything 'bad' will happen, what will be will be. But i can imagine how you are feeling. we told our family because again like other people just wanted them to know in case anything did happen. The day we told them that night i had a major cramp and was worried sick all night in case something was going to happen and i would have to tell them all it was over. i am sure you will be fine, try not to worry xx
