Hey Girls
Thought i'd write my birth story...
So i woke up as usual at 7am on Friday the 23rd of September, to get my boys ready for school. Had back ache and period pains, but i have these every morning!! I honestly didnt feel any different from any other morning.
About 8 am i went to the loo for a wee and after wiping i noticed my bloody show i was so excited and knew today was the day!!
Took the boys to school, and felt a few pains but didnt think it was contractions. When i got back home my back was hurting more but i didn't know weather or not it was because i needed a poo. (Some of you may have read my post the day before about not going the loo for 11 days).
Well around 9.20am i managed to go the loo at last, and litrally 10 minutes later i had my first contraction. It didn't hurt, but i remembered insantly that it was a contraction!!
So i basically just pottered around waiting for the contrations to pick up and become stronger. I had a bath around 1pm which brought on the contractions thicker and stronger but still bearable.
At 5.00pm i decided to go the hospital as i have my babys fast, and although my contractions were every 2-3 minutes lasting around 50 seconds they were still bearable. Got to the hospital at 5.30pm, and was sent to the Triange ward were they left me in a waiting room for a whole hour. None of the other women there were in labor, they were just being monitered for things. At this point i was in agony, and started to have baring down urges!! 5 times my OH went to a MW to tell them and they just kept saying they would be in to see me soon. I was crying and petrified i was going to give birth in the waiting room!! On the 5th time my OH went mad and said i was ready to have this baby. A MW then came in and told me i was on the wrong ward, that i should have been brought to the labour ward. You dont say!!!
So i was wheel chaired down to labour ward where my MW was waiting for me at 6.30pm. I was in tears and just wanted to go home at this point. But as soon as i was put in to my room and calmed by my really lovely MW i felt much better. She checked me and said i was 9cms and she could feel the baby had loads of hair , and didn't think she'd have time to fill the birthing pool. I was given gas & air while i waited, but a few contractions made me want to push. I resisted the urge to push though as i really wanted to go in the pool lol. Got in to the pool at 6.45pm and had my beautiful little boy at 19.03pm
The cord was wrapped around his neck which scared me but his absolutly fine. Apart from the horrible time when i first got to the hospital, my birth was amazing and so relaxed. I'd highly recommend a water birth!! I didn't tear, just a couple of grazes.
So here is Vinnie Philip Charles Brookes born on the 23/09/2011 @ 19.03pm weighing 8lb 8oz....
