ok ladies.. thought i might aswell ask what your plans are! :haha:

when are you going for the final tidy up down there?

i don't want to do it at the moment because
a) it's too much effort
b) i can't see it from any angle now, no matter how much i try to contort my body
c) i don't want it to be itchy or inbetween growth when i go into labour.

my "plan" was to wait until i get my first twinge and then quickly sort it out in the bath - haha - i'm now starting to think this plan is a bit shakey?

i'm not particularly bothered but would like to be neat when i go into labour.. just wish i knew when that would be so i could prepare!

I will ask OH to give me a trim and tidy up when I go into labour. I asked him to shave my legs the other day and he was pretty rubbish at it, left loads of stubbly patches, so am not sure about letting him loose on my vajaja but not much choice really, I simply cannot face a wax at the salon in my current state.

I dunno if this si something most ppl would do but every 2 weeks my OH sorts it out for me. Just in case I go early to be prepared for the unexpected
Now I know this is way beyond the calling duties for him but It was frekaing me out after watching a birthing video and this woman was like so hairy... he offered to help me out.
For all I know he could be making designs down there. Can you ask your Oh to help you out> Or would that make you uncomfortable ?

haha! I haven't done mine for a couple of weeks and might make this weekend the last time!! lol x

I'd say that is a shakey plan, my advice would be always be prepared just incase. I kept myself tidy and am so gratefull I did. When I was in labour I ended up with loads of people in the room MW's, doc, students etc I would have been so embarrased if they couldn't see anything for overgrowth!!!!

i adore my boyfriend and trust him with my life but the thought of letting him loose down there with a sharp blade makes my legs slam shut!! might have to have a little more faith in his abilities though haha!

think i might keep it all short with clippers and then if i have time just neaten it up when i know i'm going in.. at least if i don't get the chance to it won't be too bad if it's all short..

just hate the thought of it being inbetween clean shaves and itchy when i go in!

if someone had have told me a year ago i'd be talking about my pubic hair on an internet forum... what on earth has pregnancy done to me?

i'd be more concerned about being itchy postnatally whilst ur got a big pad on!! thats whats on my mind...the thort of postnatal bleeding and being itchy jus makes me feel bleugh...lol x

Hahaha love this!!! I worried about this to, but in the bath a couple of wks ago, OH offered his services :haha: I was worried he'd muck up, cut me  or even worse, brandish me with his name/initials or something else daft  but he actually did a good job (BIG surprise!!) so I'm covered now!! Let Nick have a go, u may be surprised too!! x

oh id deffinately keep on top of it... i said last time id sort it out before going in... my waters broke suddenly last time, no warning, then i was suddenly hit with very painful contractins coming every 3 mins... got in shower to attempt to shave and literally gave up after 30 secs as it was just too uncomfertable with all the other pains that were coming so mine got left... deffo gonna keep on top of it this time :)

This made me laugh so much!!

I think I'm just going to try and keep on top of mine regularly from now on rather than risk trying to do it when the time comes. Although I tried it the other day and made a right mess, so maybe it's a job for H now! :haha:

still laughing !!! just got visions of yr oh down there designing love hearts or something !!!!!

I bought a new trimmer yesterday as my old one broke last week. I just attempt a trim every weekend, no bother if its a little patchy as long as its not a wild jungle.

hahaha ladies you are all so trusting of your partners!! love it :)

postnatal bleeding + itching - oh my.. never thought of that.. arrrrgh!!

wild jungle.. such a fitting term

I had been using Veet spray all through the pregnancy on mine with no problems. Decided to do it "one last time" 2 days before getting induced. Did it blind cos obvs couldn't see anything ... WELL, oh my god, my husband cracked up laughing when he saw me and so did my midwife (she has delivered five of my six children and thankfully I know her well) and after the birth I saw why ... I'd sprayed off all the hair at the top half of my fou fou but left like a beard on the bottom half. Ooooh, the shame!!! Wish I'd left it alone now haha!

Even worse, I gave birth on all fours and when I turned round at the end of it all the second midwife that was called at the end for the delivery was my next door neighbour but one!!!!!!!!

 deli!! oh my.... i was considering veet, might get the OH to do that for me though after that :haha:

I normally eplilate but it grows back quicker in some places so think I'm gonna book myself in for a wax at 38wks and if she comes before that leg it to the bathroom with a razor before going off to the hospital. The was shud last 3-4wks so even if I go over I'll be tidy down there x

That is a bl**dy good point and one that hadn't crossed my mind at all!! Thanks!

Have been fretting about what to do for the labour part - in particular whether I will be able to manage to time clean shaven well enough and whether even if I can will it look appropriate.

But thinking about it now there is no way I will want to be shaving down there afterward - if I'm going to be scared of having a wee there is no way I'll want a sharp blade at large! And definitely do not want itchy horrible stubbly growth.

I think I can manage to keep it trimmed and neat for labour purposes - is that kind of icky though?

Still possibly the lesser of two evils!

Saying that all the midwifes in my hospital seen quite comely and oldish (fifties) - they might find clean shaven more odd?

Ah the weird and wonderful dilemnas of pregnancy and childbirth - cannot believe i'm dicussing these things on an internet forum either!

haha this thread has really made me laugh!!

Thankfully i had laser hair removal done down there 6 years ago so dont have this problem! will try to "trim the brazilian strip" though weekly from now on though!! ;0) xx

How long does a wax last?

I normally shave almost everything away everyday but I don't want to end up too fat to manage! I might go in for a wax at 38weeks too
xxx

I'm getting waxed regularly but have veet as a back up should i get caught short (and be in a mood to care!). Shaving gives me a terrible rash.

Actually, i probably need to worry more about my hairy legs as every day when i get in the shower i think 'i'll do my legs tomorrow'....

Great thread!!
