Hi hope you can help me?

My baby is due in 5 weeks.:happydance: oh my word I just looked at my ticker make that 1 month!!!!!
I didnt breasfeed my last but am determined this time. I have researched allsorts of things about position and latching and emptying one side first etc. But I have a question about the first days when its colostrum and not milk.

How often should I offer the breast ? and how long for? I know each baby is different but a vague idea to start with would help.:dohh:

I presume that you dont get as much colostrum as milk but obviously the baby still needs it.
There doesn't seem to be much info on the first day or two. I dont know what the situation (staff wise) will be like in the hospital so I kinda need to know to help me prepare.

Thanks in advance

When Hebe was born it was all over the place - dont get to hung up in it being a certain way as all babies are different.

When we came home feeds took an hour plus and she could go and hour or several between - there was definately no pattern to start with.

This is a great thread to read https://www.babyandbump.com/breastfeeding/115736-helped-you-starting-out.html

Same here, there was no real pattern in them first few days. Sometimes we'd feed for an hour sometimes 30 minutes. Sometimes she'd go 2 hours between feeds and some times 4. I think you'll just need to go with the flow tbh.
