Agree with babyv_s2012...Egypt food/water can cause terrible stomach upsets - also when we went we didn't feel safe to leave the resort. Locals always trying to grab me and pull me in the shops and we were told if we went into the main town that OH had to hold my hand very tight as they are worse for grabbing there.
We felt restricted to the resort which was really quite boring.
Canary Islands are a much safer option and they're warm too
I went to Crete on holiday a month ago. I had a little drop of bleeding, drove myself mad with worry as did hubby... we took out travel insurance and lucky we did ( we only went for 4 days!)
Within 15 mins the hotel doctor sent us to her clinic where she worked, i had my bloods taken then taken to the other branch where the ultrasound specialist equipment and dr was.
I had my FIRST ultrasound on tummy there... and OH MY GOD was this the best holiday ever. My baby was doing somersaults and being very active!!!!!!! the bleeding was NOTHING! it was so minimal like when you cut your lip, they investigated properly even gave us picture prints to take home with us. i was so GOBSMACKED i could not speak i hugged the doctor who was very complimentry to my baby saying all normal did measurments etc all fine!!
So my point is if you feel fine then GO! if you have any risks in your pregnancy then do NOT go! Please take travel insurance , and don't worry about food in sharm. When you are there please tell them you are pregnant and only stick to chicken and mince which is cooked through there
Main point is travel insurance! i cannot stress enough the importance of having this! x
We wanted to go to Thailand, but, never having been before, we weren't sure about medical care etc should we need it. So we're going to Grenada instead, as we've been to the Caribbean plenty and know it quite well. I'd just take stuff like that into consideration.
Hi, with my last preg we planned to go abroad when I was 24 weeks however at my 20 week scan we found that my daughter had swollen kidneys. I was being scanned weekly so we went to centre parks instead, that way we still got a little break away and were not too far away should anything happen.
I'm going on a cruise to belize, honduras and mexico in January when I'll be 23 weeks. I'm a little nervous about it but we planned it before I got pregnant and my doctor said its ok to go.
Thanks, I may steer clear of Egypt, i'm too bloody hungry to watch what I eat! Canaries are a good idea but I know weather isnt always 100% in January, the kids clubs will be better there though than in Sharm.
Think I will discuss with my consultant first and then look at booking something? xxx
Its actually not the food or water that causes it (although reheated rice is very bad), its the money! Its so old (hundred+ years) and dirty that whenever you handle it, you should use handgel to clean up afterwards.
Ive never had a problem in Egypt (coz im anal about the gel after handling their cash) and as long as you dont do anything daft you should be fine.
If you go to Egypt, as others have said, just be very careful with the food as DH got an awful tummy, it was bad for about a month and he lost a stone. I was mostly fine but I seem to have a random iron stomach .
That is really interesting about the money though, redbubble. Maybe if you just use lots of hand gel, wash hands regularly and steer clear of certain foods (salads, ice in drinks etc), you'll be OK.
Im currently in Thailand and have been her for 2 weeks, gutted my holiday is coming to an end in 2 days! We had our gender scan whilst here, was one of best things we have ever done! Am so pleased we decided to come away before baby is born! Just been careful what ive eaten, drank stacks of water and stayed out of sun between 12 & 3pm. Go for it chick you will have a great time!!! xx
