the itching is making me CRAZY!!!

Ugh.... last week I was tested for OC and came back positive..... well tonight I'm it hing SO badly that I've mad myself bleed in 3 places, even after having clipped my nails short. I've tried ice, cold showers, warm showers.... lotion, benadryl.... anyone have any remedies??? I'm losing my mind!!

Sorry you've been diagnosed and thf itch is just awful I can really sympathise, I'm getting no sleep whatsoever and I'm covered in cuts and bleeding too.

I have actually tested negative twice now. I've tried loads of creams and they also gave me anti-histamines but nothing is working
Aqueous calamine cream gives me relief for about 2 seconds then it's back to scratching.

I'll bf keeping an eye on this to see if anyone gives you some good tips
I take it you'll be getting induced them with having OC? Is there any medication they can give you to treat it that would stop the itch?

My doc is hoping to get to 36 weeks, I have to deliver by c section. Its insane how intense the itch can be.... one good site to loom at is itchymoms.com they have tips and lots of info, including things for people like you who have tested negative.... they may be running. The wrong tests.

My doctor discovered this when he was checking for the HELLP syndrome, and lucky me I could end up with both, due to pre eclampsia accompanying the fabulous itching

I am going to go insane if it doesn't stop... I read on the itchy moms website about a menthol lotion, and sitting in front of a fan.... it sounds amazing, and I'm gonna try it!

I hope you get some relief!

Thanks.... I assume the itching is similar to PUPPS but there is no rash.... nowhere.... just intense itching....

This morning its even started on my face!!! My knees are raw, my arms bleed.... I've been in tears for most of the night cuz I can't stop it!!!!

Hi again, I went to my doctor today about it and although we've exhausted all the treatment in terms of creams and anti-histamine creams there is an oral steroid that can be taken. I'm searing my consultant on Wednesday as she would be the one to prescribe it...sorry I don't remember the name she said but it might be worth asking about.

I'm dreading going to bed tonight because of it, poor you with red raw bits, have you got something to put on it?

Suze I found some lotion that was recommended on the itchy moms website and it actually helped.... its Sarna brand lotion... I found it at the pharmacy near the bug bite cream, and anti itch cream. It wasn't instant relief. But it did take the edge off.

Was that lotion any good?

I saw my consultant today who gave me the menthol aqueous cream and I've tried it already and it seems amazing!!! I feel freezing which is great, the real test comes now as I go to bed!

It les seem to work pretty well... it works better after I've scratched, the cooling feels good but I wish it had a stronger menthol feeling.

Hydrocortosone cream has been good for my itching. Good luck x

I can't see any reason why you couldn't buy the menthol stuff at a pharmacy or get them to make some up for you, it's 1% menthol in aqueous cream if you ask them
