The move to a cot bed

Just wondering at what development point did you move your lo's from a cot to a cot bed?

zane was 11 months when we turned his cot to the bed setting. he hated the bars at night and would get stuck or just feel restricted. so to put my mind at ease i bought a bed guard and used that on one side (other side was against a wall) and he slept alot better after that and he liked getting in bed himself.

ive never had problems with zane going to bed other then id say 3 times

Tom is nearly 18 months and is still in his cot. I'm sure if I took the side off he'd be fine climbing in and out but he's happy to go in the cot and he's still usin.g sleeping bags so I don't want him climbing out at 5am yet!

I'm thinking I'll prob take the side off when he's closer to 2 unless he tried to climb out 1st.

I moved him yesterday because he said no to the cot and pointed to the bed (he's 18months nearly)

So far so good he's enjoying the novelty of climbing out and playing with his teddies but no real problems.

I wasn't planning on moving him anytime soon
