I've read a couple of posts here warning on thermometers. I'm considering getting into charting my BBT. I bought a thermometer a year or so ago that is an oral one, I assume I need a new one for other regions lol??? I'm in the UK - what do I get? Not sure what my search terms would be to get one!

You can use a BBT orally as long as you're definitely using a BBT thermometer. Regular thermometers are just not sensitive enough to use for BBT charting. You can use the BBT thermometer orally or vaginally. Just make sure that you take it at the same time every day and the same way every day.

I always thought you could just buy a normal BBT thermometer then use it wherever you want... ;) I use Fertility Friend to chart and they don't say anything about a different thermometer so I reckon you would be ok to just buy a new, normal BBT just so it's clean, and then use it. And then don't mix it up with your old one :D

As long as it is marked BBT, it's fine to use. BUT beware because there are some faulty ones on the market. They are sold at Walgreens, Target, Amazon.co.uk and on eBay. See this thread: https://www.babyandbump.com/trying-...ease-read-faulty-bbt-thermometers-market.html

Thanks everyone, I don't think I've used the other oral thermometer since I bought it so I wouldn't mind switching. I don't know if it was marked BBT when I bought it.

Erm, perhaps a delicate question but I've no idea how you would use it?!!

If you use it orally, you stick it in your mouth like you do when you think you have a fever and wait for it to beep. If you use it vaginally, you insert it up to the digital screen and wait for it to beep. Just make sure you wash it off regularly unless you want to chance getting an infection.

Would baby wipes do the trick of cleaning it?

That should be fine. Also, if you have any "toy" cleaner, if you know what I mean, that would work too.
