Things to get labour started after a sweep..

Well, what a day ive had! Im now 40+ 3 and nothing has happened so far!

Had a mw check up today and my bp was elevated, so off to hospital we went! Bp still raised after 3 hours and i have protein in my urine so they are thinking along the lines of pre eclampsia. Also while there i was attached to the fetal monitor and having very regular strong contractions- only problem was i felt very little pain!....The dr was quite excited until i said i was almost pain free!

Anyway i had a sweep while there and have to have another check up and blood tests tomorrow-if still elevated then they will induce me tomorrow.

I would like things to start naturally and not have to be induced, so those of you who have had a sweep in the past and tips on getting labour started?......

I had big walks after both my sweeps, and after my big walk with the second sweep I did a ton of house work & went into labour that night

All the above PLUS inserting 2 x 1000mg primrose capsules as far up your bits as possible (I tried it for the first time tonight but had my OH do it as I cant reach that far!)- the prostogladins help ripen the cervix/at least speed things along; my friend who was similarly overdue to you tried this and it worked for her- she wound up having a 6 hour labour including a 20 minute second stage! I'm praying it works - for you and me! Good luck btw!

Thanks for the tips- i tried all the suggestions yesterday and still nothing! Just slightly painful bh ;-(
Im strangely hoping to have high blood pressure again today when checked so they admit and induce me!!!! But thats probably wishful thinking!!!! x

I think baby's come when they are ready. We tried everything, i was having contractions for 5 days every 5 mins before they let me stay in hospital and said i was in proper labour. I sat bouncing on an exercise ball for the whole week and it did nothing. Saying that though i know il probably try everything again this time ha xx
