Hi twin mums!
I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I'm finding work increasingly harder and harder to do!
I work as a nurse on a busy understaffed ward, I work 13hr shifts and I'm completely shattered by the end! I'm always limping with the SPD pain and get braxton hicks all night after a shift!
I just feel like I'm failing by finishing so early?
What do you all think? Also my days off are not too easy either as I have a very active 11 month old to look after!
Sorry rant over!....ok one more thing my tummy looks about 42 weeks pregnant :(! Xx

I took mat leave at 35 weeks but actually left at 31 weeks with annual leave and it was a struggle getting that far.
I also had a high stress job working on feet all the time (although they gave me a desk duties in the last few months as I had loads of pregnancy complications). But I would defo recommend going sooner particularly if you already have a LO to look after.

I didnt regret going off early it was a relief. Every week got 10x harder! Plus the commute was getting scary.

As a twin pregnancy I think you are defo justified going sooner.

Thanks for your advice! Don't think my poor swollen ankles can support me much longer!
Your twins are adorable! X

Holy smokes! I can't imagine being a nurse while pregnant with twins!
My doctor told me most ladies pregnant with twins finish around 30 weeks. Considering you have a way more strenuous job than most I would say it's totally time to pack it in. It does not make you a failure!!

Ha ha thanks :flower:

I cant overstate how glad I was to leave work. Seriously just do it ASAP you wont regret it!

Dont feel like a failure as carrying twins can be v.hard on your body. I know it's difficult though particularly if you have pregnant colleagues who are just waltzing around.... that used to irritate me!

Thanks for the replies ladies. At work today and slept on my lunch break! Will see the dr next week and get signed off. I actually can't physically do it any more x

I kept extending my time at work lol I work 16hr shifts on my feet...my last day was yesterday. I did slow down over the past few months though.....went from 6 days to 3 days a week. If my feet didn't swell sooooo fast I would probably work until my c-section. Thats pretty much the only thing slowing me down. Everyone is different though.

I'm a teacher and I took off work at 24 weeks. I probably could have last 2-3 more weeks, but between stress and pain I decided to take off a tad early. I was having bh all the time, had started to have pelvic pain and would have tingling in my legs from standing very long. It was a really hard decision at first bc I felt like I was being weak or failing, but now I am so glad I did it. I've made it 36 weeks and I'm not sure I could have done that if I kept working.
Really I think you just have to listen to your body. I don't know how some of these ladies work as long as they do!
One of my friends is an ER nurse and was thinking of stopping work when she was around 32/33 weeks with a singleton. She had a lot of pain, bh and lots of swelling. Her water broke and she actually ended up having her daughter at 34 weeks. She was kicking herself in the butt for not taking the time off and listening to her body. So I would definitely say do what you feel is best for you and your babies! Do not feel like you are failing, we are all different and every pregnancy is different.
