the other day i went for a meal with my mum. corey was with us and my mum was holding him.

the waitress after bringing our food asked if i wanted hot water to heat the babies bottle. my mum then said oh no she feeds herself (apparently mum thinks i cant answer for myself lol)

the waitress said oh wow good for u n walked off. this really annoyed me that she asked even tho she was only being helpful, i was then wondering why would she just assume my baby was bottle fed.

would this annoy anyone else or am i just as hormoanal as i think i am lol?

I'd be annoyed too but its a sad reflection on the fact that BF for more than a couple of weeks is just so rare :( xx

thanks

the woman was so nice i felt bad for feeling annoyed. i then was over thinking it as to why shed just assume n then was like oh i bet its because im young.

I probably wouldnt have thought anything of it really, but slightly O/T it reminded me of when we went for a meal when Amy was 10 days old and the waitress asked if we wanted a Highchair for her

She probably just gets so used to being asked for hot water and she did say good for you when you said you bfed. Xx

lol! Some people are just so clueless :D xx

That would have made me sad because it shows that FF is the majority, but not annoyed. I'd have felt proud too :)

Poor waitress has probs been bitched at by customers for not offering hot water, so she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.
Think your being a bit hormonal :).

a highchair...oh dear hahaha
i did think i was being a tad hormoanal and i wasnt horrible to her about it

I would have been annoyed. I know bottle feeding is the perceived norm, but 8/10 women choose to intiate breastfeeding.

im also getting annoyed with people looking at me when feeding lol i was walking round thomas land yesterday feeding and didnt get looked at and yet i can sit in costa and be stared at :dohh:

i could see this older woman looking at me so i just stared at her dead in the eyes until she felt so uncomfortabel she smiled and didnt no where to look hahaha

i watched a comedian the other night and she said "im feeding me baby not tossing off a dog" hahahaha i might start saying that to people

Brilliant!!! :haha:

It wouldn't have annoyed me though, she was just trying to be helpful and nost people do FF and lets not forget that some women who BF don't feel comfortable BF in public, so take a botle of expressed milk too. Although personally I'd be more embarrassed about giving a bottle than BF in public...

I'm actually suprised she even offered you hot water, apparently most places won't these days due to health and safety.

yeah i was really suprised she offered and thought it was good she did, and she was so nice. but for some reason it just annoyed me lol must of been a bad day i suppose.

im not embarrassed by bf in public and i was never embarrassed about ff my first, god it just hit me how long ago it seems since my first was a baby lol

some people will just be pissed off not only if you're BF but also if you're FF in public or even if your baby just has the audacity to cry in a public place; my LO started to cry in the ikea cafe and it wasn't 2 minutes later when a staff member came over and told me I needed to stop my baby crying because he was putting other customers off their food. :growlmad: I have strong reason to believe that it was these four elderly german women who are apparently regulars; who complained as that member of staff was chatting to them and they kept giving me and my son evils. I did complain and got a £10 ikea voucher and a voucher for a free meal but I haven't been back to that particular ikea again-it just doesn't seem to be a very baby friendly place xx

I was never embarrassed FF my others either. My oldest is 15, so I feel ancient... :haha:

omg when i lived in germany and zane was in public crying and being a total git i got evils off everyone.....they dont like crying children lol

ive had many dirty looks from people about zane crying or playing up...they wont like it if anyone dares to comment.

some people need a slap lol

Wow! I would feel honoured if I were you! We had massive problems getting hot water to heat bottles of EBM or purees in restaurants. It was a real bug bear of mine. 'elf n safety' said they couldn't......

But on the occasions I was offered water or to have a bottle heated, I was never offended. And I'm not young at all so I doubt that was the reason.

Just smile and say no thanks, remember most people are just trying to be nice and those that aren't shouldn't have your time wasted on them.

ive said before she was lovely and i was nice to her and it was good that she did offer. its just for some reason it annoyed me on that day n i was wondering if it was just me being weird lol or would others feel the same

i guess i thought could it be my age because in the area i live u only see older mums bf and younger mums formula feeding

This is true, statistically older mums tend to be more likely to do it.

I do usually feel especially pleased to see young mums do it.

i think its because i look 12 and people assume i have 2 kids by 2 different dads or something lol
