Ok - I believe my son's issues may of been the direct result of the birth, as it was traumatic for both me and him.
I believe (we ARE FIGHTING for diagnosis.. useless doctors - typical autistic stereo-typing blah blah..) that he has: ADHD, GDD, Hypersensitive skin, Sensory overload issues.
He also has bowel issues (since birth) and also has been diagnosed as having 'intestational hurry' and is on medication daily for this.
I also believe he needs ratalin (sp) and Melatonin for sleep.
He has had 3 operations to date, the last leaving him so traumatized he is now incontinent, again. He is 6 years 5.5 months old and had a SALT (Speech and Language) review yesterday. He is scoring 4 years 3 months and on the other section 3 years 4 Months.
He was also born with a congenital abnormality known as hypopadias with chordee. (See attachment)
He may need another operation soon, I am dreading this.
So far his operations have been un-related to autism / adhd.
April 2008: Tonsils and adenoids were removed.
August 2009: Hypospadias and chordee corrected
March 2011: Removal of 8 teeth (as he became very distressed for a filling and needed 4, so they removed all teeth with any sign of deterioration on.. and 1 out to 'balance' the extractions).
As I say, we are fighting for diagnosis and hope to get some help really soon. Spoken to the PPS and they have given us some helpful advice.
The school are very blind to his needs - this being said his teachers made it absolutely clear during parents evening he needs a high level of adult support to stay engaged in tasks (this also picked up by the educational pyscologist).
On a very long road, Ideally like to meet other families who have special needs children and are fighting for a diagnosis for the extra support their child(ren) need.
