Ok - I believe my son's issues may of been the direct result of the birth, as it was traumatic for both me and him.

I believe (we ARE FIGHTING for diagnosis.. useless doctors - typical autistic stereo-typing blah blah..) that he has: ADHD, GDD, Hypersensitive skin, Sensory overload issues.

He also has bowel issues (since birth) and also has been diagnosed as having 'intestational hurry' and is on medication daily for this.

I also believe he needs ratalin (sp) and Melatonin for sleep.

He has had 3 operations to date, the last leaving him so traumatized he is now incontinent, again. He is 6 years 5.5 months old and had a SALT (Speech and Language) review yesterday. He is scoring 4 years 3 months and on the other section 3 years 4 Months.
He was also born with a congenital abnormality known as hypopadias with chordee. (See attachment)

He may need another operation soon, I am dreading this.
So far his operations have been un-related to autism / adhd.

April 2008: Tonsils and adenoids were removed.
August 2009: Hypospadias and chordee corrected
March 2011: Removal of 8 teeth (as he became very distressed for a filling and needed 4, so they removed all teeth with any sign of deterioration on.. and 1 out to 'balance' the extractions).

As I say, we are fighting for diagnosis and hope to get some help really soon. Spoken to the PPS and they have given us some helpful advice.

The school are very blind to his needs - this being said his teachers made it absolutely clear during parents evening he needs a high level of adult support to stay engaged in tasks (this also picked up by the educational pyscologist).

On a very long road, Ideally like to meet other families who have special needs children and are fighting for a diagnosis for the extra support their child(ren) need.

I know a lot of kids on the spectrum suffer intestinal issues as well. Also sensory issues and attention issues are quite common so you may be looking at some form of autism. Keep on them and get him assesed!!

Interestingly, my son who has asperger's has also had his tonsils and adenoids out (sleep apnea), a late circumcision for a very constricted foreskin (day before thanksgiving and is still healing wtf!?), and also has dental issues (cavities despite thorough brushing AND flossing AND flouride rinse)! I wonder if any research ahs been done on autism and other seemigly unrelated health issues?

Anyway good luck

Great idea and thinking :)

I have several videos up on my Facebook which my friends obviously watch and say, it's about time they sorted something out.. There is something there.. I know it.. I won't rest until he gets help that he needs - diagnosis or not! :D x

My son has a rare inherited metabolic condition and one of the affects is his behaviour - he exhibits a lot of symptoms of an ASD and we are about to push for further evaluations as he starts school in September. He also has bowel issues and has just started a drug regime in the hope of 'training' his bowel to function properly. I've noticed he is missing a tooth at the front and just last week I found soft spots beginning to form on two of his molars.

We're waiting on haematology reports and further screening to rule out platelet defects before we get the go ahead for him to have his adenoids and tonsils out due to sleep aphnea.

my eldest is now 9. he has adhd amongst many other things, he had an assesment done at age 6 through the camhs team who specialise in this, this showed he had adhd and he started on medication he has done amazing. bowel and gastroenteral problesm are common with asd children, my son was the same and due to tummy trouble he is tube fed. surgery for our children is hard as they get anxious jack has been to theatre 23 times and it just gets harder.

he also wiedly had a late circumsision due to two tight foreskin.
