I have just been in one of the housemates rooms and her poor little hamster has died. This sounds really stupid but can it do my baby any damage to have been around a dead animal?

Maybe a dead rat but a pet hamster isn't going to do any harm. Not unless you eat it or something.

I didn't want that to sound too funny because of the dead hamster/you being worried...but now I read it back...does sound kinda funny

Yes she does ... I have a hmatser too and she wasn't sure if hers was hibernating or not.

I didn't touch it but she had wrapped it in some clothes which I touched a bit just to look at it ... But have washed my hands since!

I cried when all my hamsters died ... One of them I thought was dead and refused to have it in my bedroom so she stayed (still dead!) in my sisters room overnight ...! I'm a bit scared of dead animals ...

My cats have bought lots of live birds back to the house and I usually get them off them, let them recover, then release them a way away from the house. Probably more bother in touching something live and wild than a little domestic hamster.
