Both my boys were anterior placentas, were ok-ish births, didnt even have gas and air, baby number three has posterior placenta,I have heard about back labours being hard and long and very painful,do you get back labour with posterior placenta or just bad luck?

The position of the placenta has nothing to do with how painful labour is. So don't panic xxx

I'm not sure..

I have had 7 babies some the wrong way round or back to back.. I'm going to try get mobile during a contraction instead of running for the bed and getting on my back.. such a wimp lol

I know this will help a lot, to make it faster and get the baby in a good position.. mine don't engage till labour now as I have had a few and they have more room.

At my 13-week scan I was told I have a lower posterior placenta. I was told it would rise with my uterus but nothing about the posterior position.

No Posterior just simply means your placenta is at the back of your womb wall........absolutally nothing to do with labour at all.

Nope! Posterior is the most common position for the placenta, and back labour isn't that common. I had a posterior placenta and she wasn't back-to-back.

Don't worry : )

I've had four labours so far and the last one started with the baby in a posterior position and I had back labour-I had anterior placenta (I had never had this with the other three). I was quite relieved then when I heard my placenta was posterior this time!

Phew! Thanks ladies!! With DS1 I was in labour 8 and a half hours, pretty good for a first one and he needed to be delivered by ventouse as the nasty midwife wouldnt let me push as she was busy and when she let me push I couldnt so had to be put on a drip and he was sucked out. DS2,labour 4 and a half hours and I started to push as soon as I got to the hospital, this time the midwife let me do what I wanted and it was a great birth! Glad I had to go in by ambulance otherwise he would have been born either on my mums front room floor or in the car!! Hoping this one will be just as good but my midwife reckons that number 3 is always the longest and hardest of labours :(

What does Mum say about number five?!! lol
