i had a moses basket for my first and i know they dont last long at all and have been looking at a swinging crib this time as they are alot roomier and more sturdy than a moses basket but they also say to be used up to the same age as a moses basket but am wondering as they are more bigger and more sturdy, do they last that couple months more?

I wondered this too. I went to look round mothercare and they look alot longer and roomier than moses baskets!

I was told they last up to 6 months xxx

I think it depends on your baby as to how long they last, if you have one who learns to roll over at 3 months, then you probably wouldn't want to use the swinging crib any longer. I had a swinging crib for my first, purely becuase I fell in love with the drapes (mad, I know!) And he hated it!! He never slept a full night in it. Even though you can "lock" it from swinging, it still moved a bit whenever he fidgeted and it woke him up. With my girls they went straight into their cots from day 1 and only used a moses basket round my mums.

Depends on the baby....when they start being able to lift themselves up or they get too big. But they do say up to 6 months :)

I have both, the plan was moses basket for downstairs in the day and swinging crib upstairs but he seemed a little lost and unsettled in the swinging crib so on his second night we put the moses into the crib. He is getting too big for his moses basket now and im going to just put him in the crib this weekend, i hoping he will be in it until about 8 months because his cotbed wont fit in our room :/ xx

Hiya, i'm just butting in sorry girls as i've had my lil one, but i have done what lilbumpblue has said she is going to do.

I have a moses basket in my livingroom for his daily naps and i have a swinging crib for upstairs in my bedroom. He LOVES his crib but i would say not to put anything in them (teadies) as they make it feel cramped.

My little one is now 14lbs and still fits in both perfect. I would just recommend that if you do decide to get a swinging crib, make sure it has a stopper so it doesnt always have to swing xx

It really depends upon the baby. My ds was in it for about 7 months because he didnt pull himself up until then and it was quite a generous crib.

I had a swinging crib for my 2nd. I found even when you make it so it doesn't swing it still moved a bit and made her *startle* and wake herself up so we gave up with it after a couple of weeks. They look lovely though :winkwink: xx
