Thoughts and help please- Fertile window

Hi all,

I got my first smiley face with the clearblue OPK kit last night at 9pm after initially testing with a cheapie from Wilkinsons which was positive.

I have just done another Wilkinsons one at 11.45 and again it is still showing very positive.

I am a bit confused with how long I am fertile for. Do I presume the 48 hours from the Smiley test? If I did another Clearblue one now (haven't any left so I cant) it would likely show a smiley face again. So.....if I had not done the text last night and only done one this morning, I would have presumed the 48 hours starting from today. I hope this make sense!

So, for BDing when it counts, when should I be doing it and how long is my fertile period likely to be.

I hope someone can help. Thanks for reading my thread and helping someone with zero clue, I am a bit new to all this......

Also, to put in some more info, today is CD15. I BD on CD10 and CD12 already. Is it possible to get pregnant from this or is it more likely from BD after I get smiley face? Sorry for all the questions but the internet is a minefield of confusing and sometimes conflicting info.
I am unable to temp as my job means that I have very unusual sleep patterns.

Sorry no one anwsered this as I am having exactly the same problem! I would say that as you BD before and I'm assuming through a couple of days when you got your smiley face that you have done all you can! Finger's crossed for you!!!

I only managed to BD once after I got my positive so i'm very doubtfull for this month but was my first attempt at OPK.

You could have had the positive on both days because you caught the surge on the way up, then on the way down.

You can O 12-36 hours after the first positive.
If you have the right conditions (including the correct CM - watery or EW) then sperm can last up to 5 days.
You should BD again today

i was wondering this too! Have used ic opks and got lines as dark as the control since saturday lunchtime and this evening one darker than control! So when will it get lighter?? Surely 3 days isnt normal?!!

Sorry I have no idea. The two days that I have got a positive have both been really dark, I assume 3 days is probably max before it starts tailing off but I am not really sure. I just hope I have done enough this month. Think I have, but going to try and BD again on Wednesday after work if I have the energy, although I think I am probably covered already, an extra one wont hurt....

It isn't an exact science since you don't know at what point you are catching your LH surge, is it on the way up or on the way down? its impossible to know! That is why a lot of women test opks twice a day, so they can really pinpoint when the LH surge is mostly like up. I think if you are testing every single day and you finally get the positive, then the 12-48 hour count starts there, regardless of whether you get a positive the next day or the next day after. I hope you BDd the day you first got the positive and the subsequent few days after!

Yeah ive been testing at least twice a day since day 16. Had first pos at day 27 so sure it was only just starting! Started the BDing then and again last night and this evening. Will test again tomorrow lunchtime and see what it says! Then maybe another session tomorrow night!
