Hello everyone. I am now 7w3d. I spotted from 5w2d to 7w. I stopped spotting 7w1d and 7w2d, then today I started bleeding red. After a very scary doctors visit, baby's heart rate is 159, and growing healthy for now. Doctor says I am having a threatened miscarriage, and although they usually resolve on their own he said he doesn't know what will end up happening. He said there was no quantitative number on the miscarriage risk. Has anyone else had this? The doctor seemed optimistic on the fact that the baby is so healthy and heart rate and what not. I am however terrified.

I went to the ER last week at 8 weeks 3 days...I had a huge gush of blood, mostly pink, then it turned very very red.. We did an ultrasound and baby is fine. I have a doppler and I listen to the heart everyday, all is perfect but i was still spotting untill the weekend.. it went from bright red to brick colour to brown and then stopped. The doctor told me the chance of miscarriage because of SCH is only 1-3%...he said most often they see things all ok. Good luck!

I've never had an SCH personally, but I've been on these boards for a long time, and I've seen many people with them in first trimester, and it's almost always turned out just fine. I'd say 99% of the time, they came on here saying they were bleeding with a SCH, and they were scared, and it eventually healed, and they had completely normal pregnancies otherwise. Your doctor has seen this far more times than you have, too. They know what signs to look for to know if you'll probably miscarry. If your doctor is optimistic, I'd assume your pregnancy is just as viable as any other. SCHs are known to bleed off and on, pink, brown, red, and pretty heavily. It happens, and thank goodness, you know WHY you're bleeding. I'm hoping for the best for you. :)

thank you both for posting! What doppler do you have? I didn't realize I could hear the heartbeat on the doppler but now I want one. It would greatly ease my mind. And yes, these things are terrifying. My spotting was dark brown and very very light, so this morning to get a huge gush of bright red blood was the LAST thing I wanted on a Monday morning. I was so scared, still am to be honest. First trimester is not pleasant.

Sonoline B...best purchase I EVER made...I listen once a day and it is literally my sanity. Im 9 weeks 2 days now and I dont even have to look around I find it right away.

I hope things turn out well for you and baby, didn't want to read and run xx

I have the sonaline b doppler too. Bset purchase ever.

I got it because my sch was found with my son during week 5 when I bled through my pants and we rushed to the hospital. We thought for sure it was a miscarriage - it was a sch. I bled (big bleeds) 5-6x from week 5-17, but spotted pink/brown every single damn day in between bleeds. It was awful and so stressful. The doppler helped, and I eventually sort of got used to the bleeding. I was initially sent home with miscarriage paperwork, and they said hopefully I don't miscarry, but here's some paperwork to be prepared. :growlmad:

Either way, stay on pelvic rest, drink extra water, if you cramp - stop what you're doing and put your feet up and rest. Most doctors don't know much about sch's and it's all a wait and see. My specialist, who I *finally* saw during week 13/14 said I need to be on pelvic rest until further notice...which was until my anatomy scan.

There's a group on here you can join. I was super active, and there are tons of stories and experiences there. I believe it's under gestational complications.

This gave me some insight... A bit stressed now that im over doing things. The doctor who diagnosed my SCH said I could continue doing all my regular things and didnt need to take any precautions.. He knows I own a in home daycare and take care of up to 7 kids in a day... Im wondering if I should be slowing down a bit :/

Do you feel cramps? Most drs say to continue as if nothing is wrong...there just isn't much knowledge about sch's. My main obgyn told me not to change my daily routine, but I put myself on pelvic rest because I had read sooo much about it. Then the specialist said mandatory pelvic rest. But I didn't see him for *weeks* after my sch was found. So I'm really glad I put myself on pelvic rest from the beginning.

No lifting over 15lbs, no sex, no orgasms of any kind, no working out. That's what I was told, and many other women on this board were told the same thing. Good luck!

yes! I would definitely slow down. The first doctor I saw when I was spotting said pelvic rest, the doctor I saw yesterday told me no lifting anything heavier than 10lbs, pelvic rest, no stimulation of any kind, no caffeine, no walking, no exercising, and no standing for prolonged periods of time. I imagine taking care of 7 kids that is an INSANE amount of walking and picking up things! I'd definitely slow down a bit.

Where did you ladies buy this sonoline b?

Ive been lifting 25-35 lbs..and I sit down one short time during the day :/ The doctor even told me sex is ok once bleeding stopped, which it has. I got it online, theres a site for Sonoline...it can seem a bit pricey but honestly it was worth it completly.. just used it again this morning and 177 heartbeat to ease my mind through the day <3

Im sorry for hijacking this post but my mind is spinning, do you think it could depend on the size of the SCH, we saw on ultrasound that mine could hardly be measured, they said they think the bleeding was probably most of it because it was very very small.

Probably! Mine was measurable both times. Mine right now is the size of a large pea. Just do what you're comfortable with, if you get crampy slow down! If I hadn't had the huge bleed yesterday I don't think I would've been put on such restrictions.
