About a week or two ago, I started getting pretty brutal morning sickness. I've only thrown up a few times, but I feel nauseous every single moment of the day.

Lately I've been waking up very shaky in the mornings, even after I eat something. I'm just generally feeling very unwell. I don't go in for my first obgyn visit until next Tuesday.

This morning I threw up only bile (sorry, I know it's gross). I walked to the sink to brush my teeth, but still felt the bitter taste in my mouth, so I spit into the sink. There was blood in my spit! It continued to bleed for an hour or so. I checked my nose--not coming from there. I checked my gums--not coming from there. It happened when I cleared my throat.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I do have ulcerative colitis, so I'm hoping it's not a side effect from the medication I take (although, I've been taking this medication for almost 10 years with no problems).

My gastro doctor seems concerned and has asked to see me this afternoon. Wish me luck! I'm pretty nervous :(

It sounds like it could be a bleed from the back of your nose. If it happens when you clear your throat, it very well could be from the mucus (sorry if tmi) dripping there. Sometimes nosebleeds don't actually bleed out but backwards.

I really hope you're right! Dr said it might be from a broken blood vessel from throwing up. Guess we'll find out later this afternoon.

That's more than likely what it is. I've had it a few times too. I got really worried but MIL is a trained nurse (midwife too.. lucky me :dohh: lol) and I go to her with any worries like this. I usually get it when my stomach is empty and no more bile is there :(

Hi kayp, I had to go into A&E because of the same problem. I've been VERY sick as well. They put me on a drip because i was dehydrated and said it sounds like I have torn a capilliary (spelling)?? in my throat. They have given me medication for the sickness and said my throat would heal itself. I had the same in my 2nd pregnancy too. Hope this helps and hope you are feeling better soon!

xxx

Well, I went to the doctor and they said it was because the valve to my stomach has been loosened due to the pregnancy hormones, so the stomach acid is working its way up my esophagus. The blood is from it burning the tissue in my throat, so he just told me to take antacids after eating and before bed. So glad it was a simple fix :)

I had this really bad for weeks in first tri, was vomiting blood clots, hospital nearly kept me in. i was throwing up so much i had damaged the walls of the stomache! All ok once the MS cleared!

ouch, sounds really horrible honey. Hope your MS passes and you start feeling better very soon xxx

Thank you all! The antacids seem to be really helping, so if you know anyone with the same problem, it's a very good remedy.
